This is now officially day 15 of Kennedy Meeks being saddled with the knee bruise, which really occurred long before the staff decided to sit him out for a while to properly heal. Initially, it was "up o two weeks," but as it looks now, missing four games very likely will be seven given the schedule over the next week.
First, lets look at what Roy Williams said after the UNCG game when asked about Meeks:
“He’s been in the pool, but he hasn’t done anything with our team. He hasn’t shot layups period. When I leave you, I’m going to go inside and talk to the doctors and see if they have a different opinion. In my opinion, it would be awfully difficult for him to play. He hasn’t shot a layup in over two weeks.”
If he hasn't attempted layup yet, which could in part be hyperbole by a coach known for using it, there' no way he plays Wednesday against Clemson, which is the 16th day and fifth game. Georgia Tech visits Saturday and then there's a quick turnaround for a game Monday night at FSU.
If he hasn't attempted a layup yet, it's extremely difficult to imagine Meeks being back for the game in Tallahassee, so it looks like Jan. 9 at Syracuse might be a return date, but only if Meeks begins regular work by the time the Heels hold practice next Wed. after the FSU game.
