Just don't think the Heels have enough of it to win a NCAA Championship. Hope they prove me wrong but just do not do the little things. Can't get critical rebounds, make unforced turnovers and miss key free throws. Championship teams can't do that.
Was glad to see Roy sit Meeks down for playing soft.
Pinson and Maye really hurt the cause tonight.
Pinson is good against teams like NCSU because they have low basketball IQs but he hurts the Heels against teams like dook and UVA who know how to play the game.

Maye does not play enough to even get a measuring stick on, anything said about his 2 minutes cold off the bench would be unfair at this time

His turnover on the inbounds came at a crucial point of the game. Possessions are too valuable against teams like UVA to give the ball up like that. He actually played 5 minutes and is just not ready to play at the high level required in a game like tonight.

Virginia at there house and playing some good basketball!

Maybe we could have been more aggressive on the boards, but we played a very close game where clearly Virginia was playing at there best and still almost pulled it out.

6 loses by what 22 points? IMHO we are definitely prime to make a serious run at a National Championship. Would have loved to have beaten Virginia, but not upset at all with any players performance. This kind of game prepares you for the big dance.

We played pretty tough, unless you count missed FTs as mental toughness...like I said and Meeks was soft, which he has been for a while. Love him and the work he's put in but he seems mentally checked out this year for long periods.

Some of you are really failing to see the bigger picture with this team

No one is questioning whether they have the talent to win the whole thing, but this team has proven over the last 4 years that they dont have the mental toughness or the heart to win the tight games against quality teams. If I could summarize this team with one game this season this would be exhibit A.

-missing the front end of 1and1's
-terrible shot selection at the end of games
-Giving up the offensive rebound with a minute left after playing out the entire shotclock
-giving up easy baskets on inbounds passes with a second left on the shot clock
-stepping on the line during an uncontested inbounds and turning the ball over
-awful substitution/lineup combinations that turn 2 point deficits into 11 point deficits and force us to play from behind the rest of the game

I keep hearing all the fans and even the pundits say how this team is built to win in March, maybe they are on paper, but the difference between the team that people pick to win in March and teams that actually do win are the little things I just described, and this team has failed to prove time and time again that theyll ever fix it

So, should Brice have been benched after air mailing two almost consecutive possessions into the bleachers?

The best player on the team is allowed to make a few mistakes, when you need him to go out and go 20 and 10 to win the game, mistakes are inevitable. At least Brice was trying to make a play. Maye carelessly stepped over the line when the other team was 50 feet from the ball. A guy that should be playing for UNCW and playing spot duty has one job and thats to rebound and not turn the ball over

Nobody in the country was going into Virginia today and beating them with Brogden and his crew playing like that. Nobody even comes with in 10 points. To be honest seeing how Virginia was playing at home with the crowd really into it, I was actually surprised we did not get blown out.

It was our mental toughness that kept us in that game. I do agree it was a mental lapse on that inbound play, but our mental toughness was fine. That crowd was so loud all game long that if we were not mentally tough enough the game would not had been that close.

We have shot.FT spotty all year it just means we are not excellent at that, but not a question of mental toughness.

Dude, step away from the ledge. EVERYONE, from the superstars to the role players, make mistakes. And EVERYONE makes mistakes in the clutch. NOONE has ever been or will ever be perfect.

You're missing the point. Theres a huge difference between your superstar turning it over trying to make a play and your 9th guy making a complete unforced, lack of focus mistake.
