I gotta be honest. I am worried about this game , the last time (2014 vs. moo) that we failed so badly at home , we then turned around and got blasted in the next game which was the bowl game. I know we have a lot more games left this year so not necessarily a good comparison. I also worry about Miami coming off the heart breaking loss and also itching for revenge after we dragged them up and down the field last year at Kenan. I am really hoping we get our mojo back and close the season strong. Anybody know the status of Hood , Peterson or Drennon?

Not nearly as worried about Miami as I was about VT on a day when we couldn't pass the ball, by far our strength. Our offense has carried us all year long, just like they had to last year. On a dry field, I like our chances against VT or Miami.

I think we come back with a vengeance this week. That loss has got to give our guys just the worst taste in their mouth, hopefully they use it because seriously, on a sunny day I take us in a walk on Va Tech (though I will give Fuentes credit, those guys came to play and we let the weather psych us out). I like our chances against a Miami defense that is young and still very raw.

I think both teams are ready for some redemption. Miami feels it should be undefeated and Top 10. We feel that we could have beaten VT under normal circumstances.

The losing team will suffer a major blow.

Agree, the loser will be just that..

Miami had a pretty easy schedule going into the FSU game so I'm not sold on them yet. I like our chances. And I know we hit a somewhat lucky field goal to beat FSU but in reality we kicked their butts for 40-45 minutes of the game and if a few key breaks had not gone FSU's way we beat them by 3 TDs.

Things are going to feel ridiculously easy for the offense this week after playing in a monsoon last week.

What makes so many people here feel like you would have beaten VT in good weather conditions?

Good question.

I'm certain we would not have lost anything close to a blowout. But I am not certain we would have won. Without Hood, we have no power running game, which means the weakness of a Spread on full display would have allowed Bud Foster to send his D after the passing game..

So again I stress - we need to focus on finding and landing larger, power running RBs. I am not impressed with our RB recruiting, starting from its emphasis on speedy scat backs, nor am I thrilled with our RB coaching. Spreading the field from side to side with passing, as well as deep routes, works best, by far, when you have a power RB to pound between tackles.

Is Hood even practicing?????

Agree, looser will be just that..

I'll go out on a limb and say the "looser" team will win. The team that plays tight will lose. Only 1 o in lose, sorry for the rant, I'll go back to minding my own business now.

Logan has been having a breakout season but with Hood healthy, he's the straw that stirs the drink. When Hood is healthy, Logan can do what he does best and Francis doesn't have to touch the ball much and our offense is more balanced. Still, Miami's has some good linebackers.
UNC 37
MIA 26

Injuries, for both teams, could play a major role.

Will Kaaya be 100%? Miami has its MLB and one DE playing hurt for certain. I think a 2nd team DT is out for the game as well.

Syracuse is UNC-lite... pretty damn obvious why we think that.

Various tweets:

Larry Fedora confirms he sent the onside kick and Andre Smith targeting plays to the ACC office for explanation/feedback.

The rule changed in 2015 and blocking on the KO is reviewable. I think Fedors's is questioning the validity of the call.

High praise from Fedora for freshman S Myles Dorn, played 40+ snaps and “made numerous plays” including stopping potential TD.

What a game for Bug Howard on Saturday. 10 catches, 156 yards. Freak athlete. Being 6'5, with a 40 inch vert, and a 4XL hand is just unfair.

Lots to like about this @TarHeelFootball run: Blocking by @thatkidhatton & @bfritts_1, run by @T_Ocho8, fake by @Mtrubisky10.

  • I didn't realize Fritts played.
With WR Mack Hollins out for the season, RS frosh WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams is listed as the third WR on UNC's depth chart.

Ratliff-Wiliams is obviously as green as they come at WR, but my gut tells me he can be a very good WR. I will not be surprised if by late next year we are all saying that he is what we hoped Bug would become: consistently tough, consistently forcing DBs to alter what they want to do..

I think the lack of Fritts has hurt the passing game at times. Tucker is tough, but he is not the receiver Fritts is. With Hollins out, I hope we see a 100% Fritts the rest of the way.

Dorn did play well. Sometimes a freshman gets it midway and then the rest of the year plays like a veteran.

I thought a player on a kickoff could block a receiving team player if both are beyond the 10 yards, even if the ball is not past 10 yards. That was the case with that play.
