CAROLINA NOTES

• The Tar Heels are now 22-5 overall, 11-3 in the ACC and 14-1 at the Smith Center.

• Carolina has now won 11 ACC regular-season ACC games 11 times in Roy Williams’ 13 years as UNC’s head coach.

• The 25-point margin of victory is Carolina’s largest against a Top 25 team in the Associated Press poll since beating #13 Michigan State, 98-63 (35 points) on 12/3/08 in Detroit.

• Carolina is now 13-0 in the first regular-season game after playing Duke over the last 13 years.

• The Tar Heels scored 96 points, their most in an ACC home game this year and second-most in any ACC game this year (106 at Florida State).

• It was the eighth time this year the Tar Heels have scored 90 or more points and the 19th time in 27 games UNC has scored at least 80.

• Carolina shot 54.2 percent from the floor. UNC is 16-1 this year when shooting at least 50 percent.

• The Tar Heels have shot 50 percent or better from the floor in six of the last seven halves over the last four games:

.591 in second half at Boston College

.556 and .630 vs. Pitt

.500 in first half vs. Duke

.529 and .553 vs. Miami


• Carolina had six players score in double figures for the third time this year and first time since the win over Georgia Tech on 1/2/16.

• The Tar Heels had assists on 16 of 21 field goals in the second half.

• Today’s win was Roy Williams’ 354th at Carolina, which ties him for fourth place in ACC history in wins by an ACC coach. Williams is tied with Bobby Cremins, who won 354 games at Georgia Tech. Gary Williams is third with 461 at Maryland.

• Williams is 772-207 overall, 354-106 at Carolina, 384-44 at home, 182-27 at the Smith Center and 152-60 in ACC regular-season games.


PLAYER NOTES

Brice Johnsonled all players with 16 points and 15 rebounds. He leads the ACC with 16 double-doubles this year (he had 10 in his first three seasons).

• It was the ninth time this year and the sixth time in ACC play that Johnson has been the game’s leading scorer and rebounder (for both teams).

• Johnson grabbed his 900th career rebound today. He has 904, which is 10th most in UNC history. He passed Ademola Okulaja, who had 890.

• Johnson also passed Donald Williams for 29th place in UNC scoring. Johnson has 1,493 points, one more than Williams.

• Johnson was 7 for 11 from the floor. He is 182 for 292, which is a percentage of .623 that leads the ACC.



• Johnson grabbed 15 rebounds, the fifth time this year and the sixth time in his career he had at least 15 rebounds in a game:

17 vs. East Carolina, 2014-15

16 vs. UNCG, 2015-16

23 at Florida State, 2015-16

17 at Virginia Tech, 2015-16

19 vs. Duke, 2015-16

15 vs. Miami, 2015-16


• Justin Jackson tied his season high with three three-point field goals and set a career high with eight assists. Seven of Jackson’s assists came in the second half when the Tar Heels out-scored Miami, 54-38.

• Jackson has made multiple three-pointers in three of the last four games (he made multiple threes in two of the first 23 games). Jackson is 7 for 12 from three-point range in the last four games.

• Nate Britt scored 10 points, the most he has scored in an ACC game this year. He was 2 for 3 from three-point range, the first time he made multiple threes in an ACC game this year.

• Theo Pinson had 10 points and three assists. It was Pinson’s first game scoring in double figures since he had 13 vs. Clemson in the ACC opener on 12/30/15.

• Pinson has 27 assists in the last seven games.

• Isaiah Hicks had 12 points, his seventh double-figure scoring game in ACC play this year and his 14th overall this year.
