Carolina Notes
• Carolina is 11-12 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, including 6-5 in Chapel Hill.
• Tonight’s win is UNC’s first in the Challenge since beating Michigan in Chapel Hill on 11/29/2017.
• The 21-point win is UNC’s largest in the Challenge since a 98-63 win over Michigan State in Detroit on 12/3/2008.
• Michigan’s 51 points are the fewest UNC has allowed in the Challenge (previous was 55 by Ohio State on 11/28/2007.
• UNC made two of three free throws. The two made free throws tie the fewest in a game in UNC history (the sixth time, first since 3/4/2004 vs. Clemson).
• UNC’s three free throw attempts were the fewest in a game in Carolina history. Previous was four three times (vs. George Mason in the 2006 NCAA Second Round, vs. Clemson in 2004 and at NC State in the 1987 ACC Tournament championship game).
• UNC did not shoot a free throw in the first half, the second time in four games that has happened (also first half vs. Purdue).
Prior to Purdue that had not happened since 2015.
• Caleb Love scored a game-high 22 points. It was the third time this season he scored 22 (Loyola and Charleston). It was his fifth career 20-point game.
• UNC is 5-0 in his career when Love scores 20 or more.
• Love tied his career high with four three-pointers. He made four at Duke on 2/6/2021.
• Love also tied his career high with nine field goals (also at Duke last season).
• Armando Bacot had 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. It was his fourth double-double this year and 22nd of his career.
• The 14 rebounds are a season high for Bacot, the most by a Tar Heel this season and the fifth time in his career he had 14 or more.
• Carolina committed a season-low six turnovers (previous seven vs. Brown).
• Michigan scored only four points off UNC’s six turnovers. UNC’s previous four opponents each scored 19 points off UNC turnovers.
• Michigan missed 37 field goal attempts. The Tar Heels had 28 defensive rebounds and allowed only eight offensive rebouds that led to just five second-chance points (plus one dead ball rebound).
• The Tar Heels shot 58.1 percent from the floor in the second half, the sixth time in 14 halves this season UNC shot at least 50 percent from the floor.
• Carolina is 4-0 at home this season.
