I'll be there tonight and tomorrow. Anyone been recently? If so, any recommendations on a good spot for lunch and a beer tomorrow afternoon, and then any good rec's for a place for dinner?

Specifically, I'm looking for BBQ, down home fare, or pub grub. Please don't recommend an Indian restaurant or something crazy. Also, any bars I should check out? Thanks in advance, OOTB.

You should visit Forrest Gump. I hear he's a great wingman.

The Brick Pit was good. Ate there a few years ago and it is definitely down home BBQ. A buddy of mine lives close and he says to try a joint called Meat Boss.

Thank you!! I will look those up.

ETA: Those are both a little out of the way (but I'll have my car). I guess I should've mentioned that I'll be in the heart of downtown right near Mobile River. I'm definitely looking for a bar close to that area to sneak off and have a beer (or six) to make her three-hour competition more... enjoyable

Well no thanks to anyone other than @UNC '92 I've managed to locate a sports bar right across the street from the opera house / concert hall thing. Might have to check it out. There's also a rodeo saloon a couple blocks away. Giddy up
