Myles Murphy, a 4-star defensive end from Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC, took an official visit to UNC this weekend along with five other prospects.
Murphy, who is 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, told THI on Sunday night that he had a really good visit and enjoyed it very much. He doesn’t say a lot of words, so we decided to report on his visit here.
A few notes:
*Murphy said the highlight of the visit was spending some time with UNC Coach Mack Brown.
*Murphy took official visits over the previous three weekends to South Carolina, Florida and Alabama, in order.
*When asked where UNC now stands after his official visit, Murphy replied, “High.”
*Asked when he plans on making a decision, Murphy said, “July.”
*Among Murphy’s other offers are from Michigan, Texas and Notre Dame.
THI’s Take: UNC is in pretty good shape here, though just how many defensive ends will it take in this class? The staff is no longer looking to add any linebackers to this class, instead it’s recruiting defensive ends that are also hybrids, that can play some LB as well as put a hand on the ground in tight situations. We believe the staff will take a few more DEs and would welcome a commitment by Murphy.
