I've got a business meeting in San Francisco and decided to take my wife to Napa. I've also pulled strings to play Olympic Club! Anyway, we're staying in city at Palace Hotel but need to figure out how to commute to wine country. Anyone here use a limo service or tour? Hints, suggestions?

I had a friend who used a private driver to Napa when she was in SFO and she said it was absolutely the way to go. I will give her a call and see if she still has the name.

If you are looking for wineries to visit, try Sterling, Rombauer, S. Anderson/Cliff Lede, and Flora Springs. Domaine Carneros is good for bubbly.

Thanks. We're both red wine snobs...but I like heavy reds and she's more the light-medium red type. I know we're going to Oakville as I have a distant cousin that owns Gargiulo Vineyards. Damn good stuff. We'll likely do Silver Oak since it's Oakville too. Any others?

Nice!
In high school I drank a bottle of Mad Dog at a party...woke up under a newspaper blanket around midnight...drove home...talked to parents who waited up for me...lots of probing questions about where I'd been, etc....finally got outta that and stumbled upstairs and found that I had newspaper print all over my face.

but your second one is a little off...my high school date prep was a bottle of Boone's Farm Tickled Pink and a straw...

A little beyond Domaine Carneros is Carneros Creek. Really good Pinot Noir! Also, there is a Napa Valley Wine train that is quite good. Great lunch or dinner, super wine selection for tasting a variety of wine...

We need more of your stories more often. I still chuckle about you trying to sneak your dads plane out for a spin.

Here in the Yadkin Valley we have several limo/Van services that take people around to the wineries to do tastings.

@jcolucci when you go to Oakville and if you have the time, go on up beyond St Helena and visit Markham Vineyards. They have some excellent reds there. Also, if you're into Cabernet Sauvignons, Hans Fahden, up around the Calistoga area produces some of the best I've ever had.
