NBA Draft

Celtics are essentially on the clock since we pretty much know picks 1 and 2. I wonder if they'll make the pick or trade it.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Maker - but maybe not til the end of the first round.

Can't wait to see who makes the first really shocking pick.

"With the fourth pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns select SKAL LABISSIERE"

Brice projected 25th to Clippers. I think.

By one publication. Another has him going to the Celtics at spot #23, another has him going to the Spurs at #29 and another has him going to the Warriors at #30. And then some don't have him in the first round. The feelings on Brice are all over the place - more so than any such accomplished player that I can remember.

I think Brice goes in the first round. I'm hoping for the Spurs but I honestly think he'll go before that. And I think Marcus goes in the second. I have no clue where that might be.

If they pull this off, I think they have to draft a 3-4 year guy from college. The Bulls tried this method with Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry and is was a complete train-wreck b/c they were expecting / hoping these two 18-year olds would change the franchise. They need more maturity if they want this route to work, especially everything they're gonna have to give up to get the #3.

The Celtics wanted Embiid the most out of the Embiid, Okafor, Noel trio. The sixers also wanted him the most of the three and took him off the table, but are still willing to deal the other two. The thought is Philly would take Dunn if they do indeed get the #3 pick from the Celtics. There's talk on the Boston Sports Radio (so take that for what its worth) that proposed sending Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, the #3, and the #16 to Philly for both Okafor and Noel. Might seem like they're asking a lot, but Why would Philly need to keep 3 of Embiid, Okafor, Noel, and Simmons (assuming they draft him) when they all play the 4-5? When they can get guard play to help them out as well.

Philly should part with Okafor or Noel but not both. Simmons is an NBA SF. That would enable the 76ers to play Embiid and Noel (or Okafor) together up front with Simmons and whoever they put at the 1 and 2 spots. Frankly, I never understood why people were so high on Embiid and I don't get it even more now because of his lingering health issues but whatever. But I can't see Philly parting with 2 of those 3. That seems crazy.

In that scenario they'd be getting back Smart which is a good young guard, in exchange for the 2nd good young forward - but it does seem like too big a deal to pull off. The issue is that Philly wants to send one of the two to Boston in exchange for #3 (Dunn), but Boston isn't willing to do that.

Now talks are picking up that #3 will be sent to Milwaukee along with a player (maybe Olynyk? maybe Bradley?... hopefully not Crowder) in exchange for Greg Munroe and Khris Middleton. Not sure if that is being talked about just to entice Philly to up the ante or what. Again, I just hope they make a deal. The Bruins have already succeeded in botching both the present and the future of their franchise, so I'm really hoping the Celtics don't do the same, otherwise I'll have no pro teams to watch over the winter. Drafting Jaylen Brown is looking like the likely candidate if they make the pick, which would be a big mistake. Dunn might be solid, but without a trade happening, the Celtics have no needs at PG.

Damn, I wish Charlotte had a sensible way to go after that.

Not sure what the (potential) rationale behind this is for OKC.

Edit: Another thought... would you trade Ibaka for #3, @Hark_The_Sound_2010?

Ah, not draft-related according to OKC's beat writer.

Pretty sure KD would be pleased if Jimmy Butler rocks up in Oklahoma.

I don't really like Doc Rivers but I guess I'll have to root for the Clippers now. Go Brice. Go Clippers. Go Heels.

Great to see both guys find their teams. Brice with the Clippers seems an excellent match.

Pretty underwhelming draft for the Hornets... would have really liked Dejounte Murray at 22, given the way it played out.
