They haven't impressed so far.
Smith is good but not as ready as he needs to be. I assume that will correct itself very soon. Or is he still not 100%?
Henderson and Dorn look really good.
Did they redshirt Freeman? He hasn't played and I read somewhere that he might redshirt because of a leg injury that had been giving him problems last year.
I saw that Kapita was cleared to play. But he played one game and then didn't play the next. Odd.
Anya played 29 minutes in their last game. I would have bet that he didn't have the stamina for that.
With Kapita and Yurtseven playing, and more time playing together, State should become very dangerous.
Until then, good luck against Creighton.
I'm not a State hater. But even if you are, you have to root for them against Creighton.

I dont think Smith is overrated. However, he can't shoot. When you can't shoot your easier to guard on this level as a PG.
I remember this. I remember comments like Smith would start over Berry no question, Berry couldn't hold Smiths jock strap. lol.
I would still like to have had Smith BUT Berry is the man.
I wanted Smith because in HS he looked like the next coming of Phil Ford and the next coming of Phil Ford ought to go to Carolina.
Berry and Smith both was my preference.
But I thought he wouldn't want to come here and play behind Berry for a year.
That said, I absolutely don't recall anyone saying Berry couldn't hold Smith's jock or anyone criticizing those who said they prefer Berry.

A ton of people. they were saying how he is a top.nba pick and starts anywhere in the country and how berry would be forced to the 2 because he isnt even close to as good as smith and yadda yadda. acl injury didnt matter. you dont pass up on such a SURE FIRE star no matter who you have or who you have to recruit over. yadda yadda
I can't remember specific posters but Jericho is right, there were some very "lively" discussions on the topic.

The topic initially turned into a debate because when people thought Smith would come to UNC, I said I couldn't see Smith coming to UNC because I couldn't see him wanting to sit behind Berry, figuring he probably wanted to be the man since he was planning to be one and done.
Anyone saying they didn't want Smith to commit to UNC is full of "stuff", we all did. Maybe there were a couple that may have gone over board and said something like he would easily start over Joel, I don't recall any of that but would not say it didn't happen, have seen to much going to extremes when talking about recruits that I will not say it didn't happen.

I'm less of a Duke hater than many here, but even I wouldn't go that far. Unless maybe against any Rick Barnes team or Creighton. I root for anyone against terrorists.
Ever since Valvano's run to the title, I've always had a soft spot for State. UNC was out of the picture and for some reason a local PBS station in Northern Virginia was broadcasting the State games in the NCAAT. So I got to enjoy that whole crazy run. Plus, I was around during the David Thompson era. You couldn't not like Thompson.

Sure I do. But it really isn't relevant. I don't like Clint Eastwood's politics, either, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying his movies.

Over Moo, you're darn right. My disliking for Duke boils down simply to I don't like Coach K. That's pretty much it besides the annoying Cameron Crazies. Other than that, Duke is a non-factor to most folks who have ties to the state of North Carolina. None of your family or friends went to Duke except in rare instances. Carolina - State is the true rivalry in the sense that you went to Carolina but your mom went to State and stuff like that.
Carolina - Duke is a rivalry built on basketball and hyped up by ESPN. Carolina - State is a true rivalry built on hatred. Once K retires and Duke slides back into irrelevancy, Tar Heel fans will hate them a lot less, IMO.
