Hey OOTB folks, this is the 5th year that we've had some fun with this prediction contest, so let's keep it going for another year.

First things first, I'd like to acknowledge the 4 previous year's winners :

1) TarHeelNation11
2) sctarheel
3) Strummingram
4) HookUNC75

Will this be the 1st year we have a repeat Champion . . . ?

Please read through the following before submitting your picks.

This contest is open to UNC fans only.

Offered up is a 13 week contest that will begin Saturday, Sept. 2nd and end on Saturday, Nov. 25th.

There will be 5 to 7 games to predict each week, with a couple of "Crazy 8" weeks possible if an abundance of good games are available that week. I try to have the games up on the board a full 2 days in advance of the first game and will notify you in the Thread Title if a Thursday or Friday prediction is needed.

Most UNC games will be included. After that, I try to target games that have a 7.5 or less point spread and will fill out the rest with slightly higher spreads of games that are of national or regional interest.

Predictions should be made considering the included Vegas line assigned to each game. Basically, you are predicting against the Vegas point spread . . I use both MadduxSports and VegasInsider in determining the point spreads, but, I do reserve the right to adjust such.

***** Note *****
If, you chose to change a prediction, please DO NOT edit your original post. Instead, please go ahead and post that change in a new poast. Your last prediction will be considered your desired one.

If, you are changing a prediction of an 'OPTIONAL" game then please note in your new post which game you are swapping out.

Predictions must be typewritten. In the past, there have been posters that submit their predictions with pics of cheerleaders, helmets and uniforms, I enjoy the pics a lot, but, there were a couple of times I wasn't sure which team was chosen and I spent extra time trying to figure out which team was picked. It was mostly the weeks that included optional games that I incurred a delay. So, please do continue with the pics of cheerleaders, but, please do include the name of the school you are choosing. Thanks for the help here.

At anytime in the duration of this contest, please feel free to email me your predictions at . . billyuncblue@hotmail.com

For weeks #11, #12 and #13, changes in predictions will not be permitted after your initial post.

We are all scorekeepers, please alert me to any mistake you may notice . . . thanks in advance.

Scores of games will be posted as soon as I am able to and the correct prediction will be typed in bold print.

Weekly results and a running leaderboard will be posted as quickly as I can get to it . . thanks for your patience.

Highest total number of correct predictions after Nov. 25th's games will be the winner. A 'tiebreaker' game requesting a total number of points scored will be chosen from the final week's schedule.

1st place ~ $100

2nd place ~ $50

Best of luck . . !

I looked at 2 games that are listed, just a curiosity thing . .

At this point:
7 picks for both UNC & California
The line has increased for the Heels' game, a couple of sites now have us as -13 point favs. (hmmmm)

9 for Bama
5 for FSU

If, Bama is going to have a poor showing, it's usually in the first couple of games.

I'd love to know the thinking behind that. I mean, we haven't even named a QB at this point. A two touchdown spread baffles me. Maybe they just have a lot of faith in Fed's system or they think Cal really sucks.

Somebody must be betting on the Bears for the line to increase . . these early season games can be aggravating because of the unknown.

weather looking better as well...cal is really small up front...if carolina can't impose its will on the ground vs this team, i'll be worried...cal also runs the 3-4 and that scheme gives larry fits no matter if it's georgia or sdsu.

Cal has 7 starters returning on the whole team. And they sucked last year. New head coach, new QB, new defensive scheme. They're worse off than we are.

And we have almost zero production returning on an offense that doesn't even have a starting QB. I'm not saying we shouldn't be favored, but we suck against non conference P5 teams. I could understand a touchdown, but two touchdowns seems a little too much given all of our unknowns.

@BillyL, I've got your winnings covered if you place in this year's contest. It's the least I can do for you hosting this awesomeness each season.

Thank you, RH . . every year you make the same gracious offer. It is gratefully noted, good sir.

(pretty sure your $ are safe tho)

;)

I was missing my sanity to think we could cover this double digit spread... mediocre defense, new kicker, and most importantly all new skill players on offense; and we can't even decide on a QB = we'll be lucky to even win this stupid game.
No doubt, brother. You summed-it-up pretty well.
