Netflix Finds

there's also a rule that you can't purposely practice/teach circumnavigating NCAA rules by, for example, honing your flopping skills. How K never got tagged is beyond me. Maybe it was because the flops were so obvious that it was assumed they weren't being practiced.
Or maybe there is such unjustified reverence for K's abilities that he just was able to identify and recruit the naturally best floppers out there?

yes, that sort of player did seem to gravitate to his program. Good call.

AMC's Dark Winds is on Netflix, if anyone missed it. Top notch adaption from the novels of Tony Hillerman. Might move a little slow for some, but worth sticking with it.

“Dracula” was very entertaining. it pays homage to
All the classic bram stoker depictions, interjects some dark humor, add just enough gore and horror, and puts an unexpected twist at the end. Great watch for Halloween season. 8 of 10

I've heard they were making one, but is it an actual sequel or are they just calling it one to get views?
it is called gladiator 2…it’s still wrong, that is a stand alone…connie nielsen is back so my guess is it’s a sequel.

and denzel, lol wtf.

I just saw the pilot of a new series titled 'Matlock'. featuring Kathy Bates in the lead role Weirdly, it isn't an extension of the original TV show although that show gets mentioned.

She is an older retired or out-of-work attorney who finagles her way into a job at a large prestigious law firm, and then quickly ingratiates herself by helping win a tough case.

Her name is Matlock, but the name is not connected to the first Matlock.

She looks a lot different from what I remember of her, but flashes of the old acerbic Kathy Bates comes through. I always liked her acting and although this started off a tad hokey, it ended up being mildly decent entertainment with quite a twist at the end that seems to tie in with an actual real-life circumstance from several years ago.

I'd recommend it to Kathy Bates fans, not sure about anyone else.

Disney is producing a Superman movie with a black actor in the lead role. Kinda makes sense when you think that Supermans parents abandoned him as a baby.
Feels like your post is one of those that makes me struggle as to whether to put it in the actual thread or relegate it to the Politics' one.

Regardless, considering all the recent uproar that they didn't get actual little people as the actors playing, I want to say it was, the dwarfs in that remake, I suppose that this project will be unable to go forward unless they can confirm that the hired actor is actually from Krypton.

I’ve been consumed by this.

They’ll have to cast some fat, white girl as Lois. Maybe call her Brittany instead. She’s a reporter for The Source and an habitual bad decision maker.

I can’t stop.

Anyone else get the update to the new Netflix layout?
I just looked and it seems the same. What's supposed to be different?

I notice that The Diplomat is coming this Thursday. Stars Kerri Russel and Rufus Sewell and the 1st season earned 8.0 on IMDb. Here's their blurb:

In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future.

Another show coming Thursday that caught my eye is Murder Mindfully. The blurb makes it sound like Barry.

A lawyer attends a mindfulness retreat to restore work-life balance but unexpectedly becomes a murderer and mastermind for the mob.

The layout has completely changed and it sucks. It's like the executives got together and tried to figure out how they could take it from best layout in the business to the absolute worst. Like they saw it as a challenge. I think it rolls out to everyone by the end of the year.

That's disappointing.

“Penguin” was incredible. Imo easily the best movie or series of any of the super hero genre. It’s not action packed or full of clever innuendo or sci fi special effects. It’s dark and gritty and really makes you dislike certain characters and pull for others. The production is awesome as well. Def worth the watch if you’re okay with slow burners.

“A man on the inside” is a comedy with Ted danson going undercover in a retirement community to solve burglaries. Sounds totally stupid right ? Well it’s great. I’m no fan of danson or comedies but in both cases this is a pleasant surprise. It’s just different than anything out there. The humor is clever and subtle with some serious exploring of dealing with dimentia and loss. It’s just a really pleasant, humorous, witty comedy. The characters seem real as opposed to cliches.

I'm still on the Spectrum Cable tit, and I have little idea what else is available. But Paramount has just started the continuation of the Yellowstone series and has launched a new series called Landman with Billy Bob Thornton, about the oil industry in Texas. Yellowstone, three new episodes in, is pretty good but Landman is a big shiny jewel so far. I'll watch a Depends commercial if it has BBT in it and this is him at his best. 2nd ep was last nite. Highly recommend, especially for BBT fans. Demi Moore is in it as well and although she hasn't been featured yet, her now more mature appearance is highly appealing. I was a fan of hers starting with her OUI spread way back when but she lost me when she got those awful bolt-ons. I might be getting back on board. We'll see.

Yellowstone lost its luster with me after season 3. I’m looking forward to watching landman. BBT is awesome. Did you see the season of Fargo he was in?

no, I missed Fargo entirely but you can believe I'll be trying to find it if he was in it. Was it good regardless of him being in it? I've seen him in more things than I can count and I don't recall a single flawed performance or performance I didn't think was perfect. The scene in Tombstone with him and Kurt Russell in that gambling house was maybe my favorite scene of all time, although I give Russell most of the credit for that....but BBT was a completely different character than he usually plays and he just nailed it.

I missed Ystone the first time around so I binge watched it sometime back, and enjoyed it for the most part, but I can see it getting tiresome and maybe even a little hokey. Things change drastically this go round, so you might want to check it out.

I have a crush on Kayce's injun wife; but for a good time, I'd saddle up Beth and just try to hang on.

ETA...definitely catch Landman, it just has started. If you do, let me have your honest opinion and I'll be prepared to tell you how FOS you are if necessary.

I read that she was from SC. After seeing her quite a bit, I was astounded to read that she was not Native American, and I thought they were maybe mistaken because to me she couldn't look any more NA. Now, I just read that she is supposedly part Cherokee but that is maybe in dispute. Help me out here. Is she or is she not part NA? Either way, she's just beautiful to me.

And just out of curiosity, why is her dad locally famous?

And Beth is a bitch but maybe one of your more memorable one-nighters if she happened to be in that mode. You'd probably want to be at your best...she definitely holds a grudge and you don't want to be on the wrong end of that.

Oh yea you gotta see him in Fargo. He’s the villain and his performance is amazing. But the show is good beyond him as well. Gotta love coen brothers.

this confused me until I looked it up and saw that the Coen bros. were also involved with this Fargo.. I had heard of Fargo (the TV show) but I had no idea the Coens had anything to do with it. Now I REALLY want to see it. The Coens are the best. Thanks for tipping me off about this.

I’ve watched “raising Arizona” prob 30 times. Then I saw “big Lebowski” and loved it. I had no idea who the coen bros were or that they were involved with both films but when I found out I knew I was a fan. They’ve had a couple flops but ftmp I love everything of theirs. “Oh brother where art thou” is another fav.
