New AP Poll-- Heels only drop one spot

Neither UK nor UNC should move in the poll, both played a great game. I've seen Gonzaga and our guys could win against them...drop that crowd a spot or three.

No surprise. Didn't think we'd drop out of the top 10. Gotta give a good performance against Northern Iowa and Georgia Tech.

I was interested to see where we were at this point last year: 9-2, # 11

Had lost 2 games also

At unranked UNI without Paige
At Untanked Texas at the buzzer with Paige.

We had beaten Maryland who was highly ranked but caved late in the year.

We had also beaten #22 UCLA handily.

I think our good wins (Wisconsin, OSU, and comeback vs Tennessee) and the "good losses" this year compare favorably to last year.

But - the Acc is amazingly better this year than the hands down best conference they were last year.

Plus - this is not to say there aren't a lot of things for this team to work on - especially the seniors.

I just think this team is in at least as good of a position as they were last year at this time. Especially when they get Theo back.

I haven't seen UCLA play yet. But only Duke and U.K are teams where we seem overmatched and for now duke is only on paper.

Here's to JB JJ and TP providing great leadership from junior class and pushing us to another final four.

I didn't think the Heels were overmatched against Kentucky. Kentucky has more overall talent, but didn't overmatch the Heels. The Heels had a chance to win the game at the very end. This is not the sign of an overmatched team. If the Heels play them again in the Dance the results may be different. The most important thing is that ALL the Kentucky fans know that. In fact, most of the country knows this.

When Ky plays their A+ game, as they did vs us, IMO there are only 3 teams in the country that have a chance of playing with them. WE clearly showed even with their best game we were right there with them, I think Kansas could be there with them but that has to be A+ game vs A+ game and duke but I don't know that duke could get the guard play to hang.

FYI, I think vs Ky, we played our B - B+ game, we can not play more than that without Theo IMO. Hicks in early foul trouble also IMO takes us out of the A game and 2 total points from our 2 guard position as well does not show as A game for us. I am not sure KY can play much better than they did vs us but I do think we have another level we are capable of playing to.

Not taking anything from Villanova, but UCLA should be #1 from what I've seen. Their freshmen are playing out of their minds.

I don`t agree that there is 5 teams better than either one of us. But they all won so you just have to keep winning. Doesn`t mean diddly squat right now anyway. Ky. will have to play just as hard wednesday night against The Cards or we`ll get our butt beat. Man I love college basketball!!!

That says it. They will obviously mature as a team but cannot play any "better". Think about it, if Monk just has a great game --- say, 34 pts --- we win by double digits. And let's call it as it was --- I posted last week that provided we just a got a reasonably fair whistle, we would dominate inside and their guys would be in foul trouble. Suffice it to say, we didn't get that whistle.

And yeah, Theo is a difference-maker. Can't wait to see him back.

(2) Nova
(3) Kansas
(4) Kentucky
(5) North Carolina

I don't really care about rankings in December; I just care about how we are playing! I think we are showing a level of toughness that we haven't shown since '09. This team can play with anybody and doesn't need its A game to win. This team never gets down when facing tough whistles, bad shooting, bad luck or other worldly play by opponents. I have not seen us bicker with each other even once this year. Other than silly harping on body language, there is an unquestioned camaraderie that is a joy to watch! (JB and JJ are absolutely brilliant!)

UK has some dadgum impressive young guards and some good depth and I hope we get to play them again! There is only one way that game could have been better to me!

We could beat the breaks off the rest of the teams in front of us if we play our A Game!
