If they've looked into this and it turns out that California is mismanaging the money then I'm cool with them reassessing the situation before giving them more.

However, we can't cut funding right now to those who were devastated by the fires. If the federal government needs to take over, then I'm good with that for now so we don't leave them in the dark.

The issue is that the fires happened on Federal Land. This wasn't a California issue, but the Federal Parks Service issue.
 
They better start raking

They better start creating more firebreaks. The fire was started by the power company and fueled by California's refusal to create firebreaks. We had the same problem in Florida, because of transplant northern bureaucrats who didn't know any better. They almost burned up the city of North Port down here. They quickly changed their tune after that incident. Now add California's dry climate to that situation and that's what you got. Negligence + stupidity + dry climate = disaster.
