We need another golf club discussion. So, I've been switching back and forth this past year between 712MB blades and 712 AP2 - players irons and generally shoot mid 70s. I'll be 51 years old next month.

Anyway, my club had Titleist fitting event a couple of weeks ago and they had me try the new game improvement irons 716 AP1...my God!!!! Although the top line is a bit thick for my taste, the extra 15 yards more than makes up for it! Seriously, a club and a half extra distance! No draw, no fade, just straight! Which may be an issue since I like to work the ball a little...but, I ordered a set which come in Friday. Can't wait!!!

Well I am as old school as they come and the game improvement clubs, with their massive heads, just do not do it for me. I am blade man thru and thru.... hard to go wrong with the AP2

I am a Callaway guy. Right now I'm a 2 handicap and I play the X2hot Pros with KBS Tour 120 shafts and love them. I have hit the Titleist AP2's and have to admit if I ever switch brands, that's the route I will go.

I have the KBS Tour 90s in all three sets. Great shafts.

I'm old school too. Should be interesting to see if I can stand to look at them longer than it took for the fitting!

Do you play the Titleist driver and woods as well?

I've got the 915D3 driver and love it! Still playing older 913FD series 3+ wood. Replaced 18degree hybrid with 915F 5-wood this summer but jury still out. I hit it really high and wind gets it more than before.

I ditched my 3 and 4 irons for hybrids. I play a low ball flight but in Nebraska you need that. Wind blows here all the time. I play the Xhot Pro Driver and 3 wood. 3 wood is the hottest one I've ever hit. Also have a X2Hot Deep 2 wood I put in the bag at times.

I have never cared for Titleist irons. When I played blades and muscle backs, it was Hogan Apex, then Mizuno, then Mizuno muscle backs. Have had the Callaway X-18 pro series in the bag for about 9 years and they are fine for as much as I play these days.
