New York Times photographer posted support for terrorism on Instagram...

Misleading headline is misleading.

How so?

Wissam Nassar posted pictures of the suspected terrorists behind the Barkan Industrial Estate and Ofra shooting attacks on Instagram, adding the text: “A sad morning that carries with it pride with the martyrs, and honor in resistance. ‘If you lost the way, follow the martyrs’.”

The title implies he works for the Times. He’s a freelance photographer and the Times and other news outlets have bought his work.

I guess that could be a little misleading. The story doesn't specifically say that he's freelance, but it's my understanding of the business, and I could be wrong here, that freelancing is the norm. They've still used him in the past, so we'll see if they continue to use him.

I do think freelance is pretty common. I also sympathize that just calling him an NYT photographer makes more of a concise headline than "Freelance photographer frequently contracted by the New York Times and Time Magazine but not on their full-time payroll posted support for terrorism on instagram"

I'm sure they have their biases. All news organizations do.
