They score at the buzzer as USC misses 2 one and one in the last 30 seconds. The friars remind you some of Duke as they win and die shooting the three ball. The zone seemed to bother them but USC just choked at the end...They did not show much of a inside game.

USC is a much better three point shooting team I think but I wanted them to win. I think UNC would have run them out of the building. I think the matchup with Providence is much tougher.

The first game is out of the way. Heels by 15 going away. Just get to Houston!

They were indeed --- and I was sorta hoping they would, as undisciplined as they were with the ball that would be Carolina fast breaks waiting to happen.

Yup. Their head coach was Florida Gulf Coasts when they went to the sweet sixteen a couple years ago. Would have been nice to play against basically the same system. Oh well.

Kris Dunn concerns me. Remember DeAndre Kane that gave us issues from Iowa St? Dunn is that big physical NBA caliber PG that you don't have to matchup against typically. Bentil is streaky but when he is hot he is scalding typically. He is 6'9 and can pull your bigs away from the basket. Outside of those 2 guys Providence doesn't worry me.

I hope Theo is ready to run on that big guard...and also perhaps Kenny, at 6'4" he can help, cause MP, Nate and JBII will all have their hands full.

I have a feeling UNC is going to blow the doors off Providence ... something like the Miami/Notre Dame games.

I didn't see the second half of that game but the first half I didn't see either Prov or SoCal play much defense, don't think that will work vs us. Bentyl looks solid and Dunn was in foul trouble much of that first half, the Bullock kid can play some. Just couldn't help but feel like I was watching Wake vs NC state, either could beat a lot of teams but nothing really spectacular.

But then again, we looked real average in our first half as well. Gulf coast worked harder than we did in that first half but some of that was the fact that they had already played and this was our first game in the tourney. We will need to come out with much better intensity from the opening tip but we should beat the Fryers solid.

IU won in a blow out yesterday, Ky best not look ahead to us or the SEC could well find themselves competely out of this NCAAT.

JB will surprise you (if he already hasn't) should he get this assignment. I'm telling you he is quicker and stronger than people think. What he lacks in size he makes up for in strength. Let that big boy get loose with that ball just once and it's going the other way.

Joel did a heck of a job on Mello Trimble, in some ways a similar match up, Marcus did great on Brogdon, maybe the 1 & 2 punches from those 2 will nuetralize Dunn. bentyl seems to me to be the more important guy to shut down.

providence really got a GIFT from SC last night Just a terrible ending fior the Trojans Missed FTS, turnovers, missed opportunities on at least three occasions to seal it and they did not...

providence is a much tougher team but I believe we can win this one

I agree, when JBII gets "that" look it is all over. That kid can compete. I do like the way he and Nate have a knack for running up under those bigger guards on some teams.

Does anyone think Providence is better than ND or UVa? I certainly don't. IF we play like we are capable of (like in the second half last night), we can beat anyone, anywhere. Do they have some guys who can play? Of course. Do they have some matchup advantages? Maybe, but we have played against better TEAMS and one guy won't beat us. If one guy scores 80 points, then I will eat my words, but I like our chances no matter who it is.

I say that the only we will lose this game is if we beat ourselves. Toe to toe and they win it? Well, then you tip your hat and move on, but I don't see that happening from what I saw last night. USC's zone gave them fits, but even when they got it inside they didn't look very good and missed a lot of relatively easy shots.

I am not too worried, but we will have to show up if we want to move on. No more taking a half off like last night.

When UNC plays to its potential, they're unbeatable. It's just a matter of channeling that ability and playing at their best. The ACC Tourney was proof that they could DOMINATE teams. It's there. If you can do it against UVa, you can do it against anyone.

I guess because he doesn't have any "hype" he not getting the nba love. However Joel Berry has look better then a lot of the lotto picks he has played against this season. I think it will continue vs dunn.

Dunn had more points but Berry was far more effective on both ends from start to finish. Great game by JB!!

Correct. Imo he had another better game then a lotto guard. Dunn didn't play smart on the defense end and wasn't as valuable to his team this game.
