CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina has hired Nicki Moore, an 11-year member of the University of Oklahoma’s athletics leadership team, as a senior associate athletics director, UNC director of athletics Bubba Cunningham announced today.
Moore is currently in her third year as the Sooners’ senior associate AD for student life and strategic planning and the senior woman administrator. She oversees sports medicine, strength and conditioning, psychological resources, housing and dining, sports nutrition and gender equity, is the sport administrator for seven teams and has overseen several capital projects.
Moore also supervises OU’s Student-Athlete Development program, which includes a leadership academy, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Bridge Builders Multicultural Student-Athlete Program, and orientation programs. She serves on numerous campus committees and is the athletic department’s liaison to the business school and the Department of Higher Education Administration. She is also a member of the NCAA Committee for Institutional Performance and serves on the NCAA task force on student-athlete mental health. From 2010-12, she managed academic advising for student-athletes and she has led the department’s strategic planning processes since 2006.
Moore will also serve as UNC’s senior woman administrator. Beth Miller has held that role since 1981 and is retiring at the end of June.
