I may be one of the few people here who have seen them play in person. Son marches at WCU and I was there for the home game against The Citadel. My observations:
- No, we had better not sleep on them. They are a pretty good team. As good at the triple option as GT? No. Not by a long shot. WCU's defense makes UNC's look like the '85 bears. Still, they can run it and are capable of putting up some points if we aren't ready.
- Offensively I wasn't blown away by them, but they also left points on the field with some bone head plays. Dropped passes and penalties probably hurt them more than anything in the game I watched. Perhaps THEY didn't play to their competition as it appeared at times they were just going through the motions, but I still wasn't blown away.
- On defense, they have nothing to hang with us. Period. We could and should score at will. If the offense gets into turbo mode, they could be in for a world of hurt. If they brain fart, ala the dook and VT games, we could be in for a dog fight.
I will be in the stands tomorrow, so I hope we show up and play like we are capable. If not, my one and only game in Chapel Hill this year will not be fun!
