No respect

No respect indeed. Sorry, but to rank us behind these teams is ridiculous:

Mississippi 3-4
USC 4-3
Stanford 4-3
WMU 8-0
Miami 4-3
UCLA 3-5

And one could make the argument that we're better than several others ranked above us. After our win this weekend, we should break into the Top 20. I'm content with that at this point, though I expect to keep rising if we win out. If we win our next 4 games, we could move up to about 10-12. Beat Clemson and we move into the Top 10. That's not an easy row to hoe but the potential is there, provided VT loses another conference game.

People, breathe. The polls do not matter. Not yet. UNC has virtually no equity built up because how "upstart" our program is. Every time the pollsters give us love, we go out and lay an egg. Let's win out and the polls will take care of themselves.
Isn't Sagarin supposed to be based on set variables? That is the point.

What elite team have we faced that is supposed to buoy our strength of schedule? Besides FSU

Besides, the first round of college football playoff rankings comes out this week I believe. I'm interested to see where the committee places us.

We've beaten 2 ranked teams on the road this year, something half the teams above us can't say. I know we don't have much football cred right now but last year, combined with winning 9 straight on the road, should start to change that. If this poll wasn't supposedly based on set tangibles alone, I wouldn't say a thing.

TBH, the next coaches poll will have us in the Top 20, and that's what matters most to me.

I am just gonna wait to see the first CFB Playoff rankings, like I said. That committee spends way, way more time evaluating their chosen Top 25 teams than the associated press does, so it stands to reason our ranking will be much fairer in that ranking system.

Please don't think I'm suggesting we can make the playoff. There's a 0.0% chance of that happening. I'm just saying the committee's ranking beyond just the top 4 are very important for bowls and such.

Believe me, I agree. We're not a playoff caliber team by any stretch of the imagination. But I do think we're a Top 20 team if we win out, possibly top 15. I'm content with that at this stage of our development.

Did anyone even bother to read Sagarin's methodology?

All three of his rating components are based on scores. Our three best wins this season -- FSU, Pitt, and Miami -- have come by a total of 10 points and we got hammered by VT.

By the way, the methodology is entirely formulaic, meaning you're basically accusing a computer of disrespecting UNC. LOL.

7 teams ranked ahead of us with the same or worse records, and a lower strength of schedule.......

yes, our football program continues to be disrespected by the media, and by game officials who inflict a disproportionate number of blatantly bad calls, and by the ncaa with it's interminable unjust "investigation" which is nothing more than a green light for abc'ers to give us he//. carolina football still has a ways to go to earn respect. we're heading in the right direction, but one strong season followed by an abysmal bowl performance doesn't quite cut it.

This is why I think the rating methodology is flawed. The computer assumes the amount of Fs given in a 30 point blowout are the same as a 1 possession game.

It's a computer ranking folks. The computer doesn't know our 30 point curbstomping at the hands of VT was largely attributable to the weather. That game severely drags us down. It has absolutely nothing to do with "disrespect".
