North Carolina Makes Contact for Isaac McKneely

Rumor also has it that another ACC team has been tampering with him for a while now, abeit (as I said in another thread) "tampering" becoming a quaint term due to lack of enforcement mechanisms.
Yeah, I had heard the rumors since the ACCT but when he got with his new agent his being in the portal was done deal, kinda why I dropped his name a few times over the last couple days. I didn't realize Rhode had entered as well. I am also expecting to see Nigel Pack in the portal, he may wait a while to gauge money being tossed out before he moves.

Why are they going after a 6'4 guard? Insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing expecting different results. SOS different year I guess.

Come on, a 6'4 2-Guard is more than big enough --- exactly what Ian is, and should he leave that would be a fitting replacement.

And of course there are already Bigs to be targeted as well, and the Portal is just getting started.

Right about now, though, over the next 48 hours or so Carolina fans need to be concerned first and foremost with one thing --- keeping our most important piece, EC, in the fold. Period.

Probably the right process to look at 6'4" and taller guards that can shoot and have a quicker release. I'm sure UNC will be involved in upgrading their bigs. That part isn't even complicated because if they don't upgrade their bigs, Hubert's not coaching past next season.

I'm more curious about who's back and who's not. Without knowing that, I can't exactly picture the roster construction.

I am assuming Ian is leaving, heck, some say he left late January. I like McNeely and what he brings. What I'm really hoping for is someone to bring some leadership of a fiery nature. He seems like that kind of guy.

Hubert likes to recruit a certain type of kid… it’s really starting to annoy me.
What type is that? Here is just a partial list of recruits/transfers Hubert has offered:

Darryn Peterson
Braylon Mullins
Cayden Boozer
Jasper Johnson
Acaden Lewis
Derek Dixon
Isaiah Denis
AJ Dybantsa
Isaiah Harwell
Koa Peat
Caleb Wilson
Nik Khamenia
Niko Bundalo
Malachi Moreno
Maxime Raynaud
Cliff Omoruyi
Jonas Aidoo
Adou Thiero
Harrison Ingram
Cormac Ryan
Paxson Wojcik
Jaelyn Withers
Elliot Cadeau
Drake Powell
Ian Jackson
Boogie Fland

So what is it exactly about these kids that annoys you?

Anybody else’s hearing EC is entering the portal?

I am looking for avatar type players. We will not win with players without elite levels of size and athleticism. The best teams are bigger, stronger and faster. We need to get back to recruiting that. We keep going after system players. It doesn’t work. I want 6’6 shooting guards, 6’8 small forwards, 6’10 and 7 foot centers. I want to get back to being pipeline for the NBA again. North carolina is not a lunchpail college team. It feels like we traded places with Duke they now resemble carolina‘s teams of past and we resemble theirs.

Not to mention alphas, last year we were good because of one reason. His name was Harrison Ingram, even though he played out of position. You gotta be an elite talent or an alpha on the court, he happened to be almost elite and a alpha. To me it seems like Hubert always wants a certain look to his players, ones he considers coachable. Personally, I want you to be an elite talent or hate losing more than you like to win. He’s only gotten 2.5 of them to the hill… Manek and Ingram, and neither of them scream alpha on paper. The .5 being Elliott (who has been playing with Rj and less than stellar bigs who have stunted his growth)

As I posted in other threads, the money stuff out there was way too soon for that process to play out. And his camp isn't delusional enough to ask for RJ money. Also, as of very late tonight, EC was not in the portal.

That said, I would be surprised to see him at UNC next season.

!00% agree with 6'4 as a good size for a 2 and the need to keep EC. Just wondering why the first player UNC reaches out to is another 2 guard. I just didn't think IJ would portal out or go NBA this year as he's simply not ready. Seriously doubt Seth moves on either but stranger things have happened.

Join the Family, Mr. McNeely!

Seems a no brainer to go after an established shooter with good size.
