North Carolina ranked #29 in Coaches Poll

Pitt Ranked #28 in Coaches poll.

If North Carolina can take care of business against Virginia and Pitt can do the same against Syracuse, we could have two 6-1 teams squaring up for a nice Thursday Night broadcast in Pittsburgh.

It would be huge for both programs. Still, UVA looms and we've traditionally struggled against them. Take 'em OGAAT and we'll be fine. Nice to be getting a tad of respect however.

The ACC needs Pitt and UNC to win this week and be ranked when we meet.
 
I'm sorta annoyed we aren't in the Top 25 this week. I think we deserve it now, after the Wake dismantling. No clue why UGA deserves to get back in the Top 25, nor why Duke is #21 -- their resume is no more impressive than ours.

I have a hunch that when the playoff committee releases their first Top 25, we'll get looked at favorably, if we keep winning.

I completely agree. It's irritating. Duke's resume is certainly no more impressive and probably isn't as impressive. The best win for each team is GT and we did that on the road. And then we completely shellacked a pretty good defensive team in WF (WFU beat BC 3-0 and BC lost to duke 9-7). But as it stands, their loss is probably not as ugly as ours as Northwestern is a better team than SoCar.

Win the next 2 games and we'll be top 16. Then we get to settle this point on the field with duke. I have a feeling that duke is going to lose at least 3 of their last 6 games.

As a college football fan, I know I would be a lot more excited about a Thursday night game between two Pac-12 teams who were 6-1 than the same two teams at 3-4. You know the quality of the game will probably be good. It's also likely to be a hard fought game with a chance at a conference championship appearance at stake.
 
This thread needs a Top 5 UNC team vs. a #1 Pitt team called by a Hall of Famer, whose equal is not calling games today.

I'm glad we're not yet ranked. The staff can drill it into the players that the pollsters do not respect them. Let UVA suffer the heat.
 
I agree with Woad here. Preach the Rodney Dangerfield angle and keep them focused and hungry.

We don't deserve to be ranked. We've only beaten 1 FBS team with a winning record (Illinois). And that South Carolina loss was a bad one. Probably don't even deserve to be ranked if we wallop a bad Virginia team. Beat Pitt and dook and things will start falling into place.

Just win....We control our destiny...Win out and who cares what happens....OSU lost to a bad Va Tech team last year 1st game at home.....

I still think we are a year away but make it happen now.....
 
I'd just like the players to feel the satisfaction of being ranked....would be a very tangible mini reward for their hard work. What irritates me is Duke being ranked #21. Tell me how their resume is better than ours?
 
We will not be ranked until we beat UVA and Pitt, unless a bunch of upsets happen. If we beat Pitt on a Thursday night on the road in front of national audience, we will launch high in rankings. Truth be known, I would rather not be ranked unless that happens. Halfway through regular season. Take care of business, finish strong, win out and screw the pollsters.

We are about where we should be. That opening game shit show still shines brighter than any of our wins at this point in the season in the eyes of the voters. As much as we hate it, it's the truth. USuck has looked pathetic and they beat us which is why we aren't in the top 25. If we would have won game 1, we'd be in the top 20.

How is dook ranked 23rd and yet is a 2.5 point underdog to a team with a losing record????
I hate the chokies and dook, so I hope they both lose.
