We all know UNC can score with anybody in the nation but their Achilles Heal of playing defense was not show visible. No question in my mind and probably anybody else's who actually watched the game the KEY to the win was the COACHING decision to put Britt and Pinson on Barber after the Cat was just killing Berry on his way to a 50 point half. NO Coach Williams can't coach and he should retire...Please lay off the airplane glue because it is
Definitely affecting your rational thoughts.

It was a group effort against Barber. Joel had some good stops also. The help defense was so much better. Roy at least called a time-out near the end.

I hope everyone who voiced their displeasure with Coach Williams after the one point loss to Duke last week will at least step up and give him some praise for the defensive changes he made and for really shorting the bench play tonight

I would prefer to have a balanced approach. You heard the cliche " You don't get credit for fixing problems you created". The Heels played well tonight and should have won. Bottom line, they took care of business. Now, go to Virginia and kick butts. Jackson is on a roll. If Paige gets going, the Heels may not lose another game this year.

I hate hate hate losing to dook .... but I gotta be honest, as much as we own them, I get SOOOOO much satisfaction watching those irrational redneck fans walk out of the arena after ANOTHER loss to Roy and company :p

I was listening to the radio broadcast on UNC Radio (Eric & Jones), since the game was blacked-out. When we were down 23-10, Jones said that was the largest deficit the Tar Heels have had this season. I believe that's what I heard! That made me pause and think "This is the first time all year that we've trailed by 13 points???" That is pretty impressive. I remembered that our losses have been by 4 points, 2 points, 6 points, 4 points and 1 point. Now, the last loss stung very badly because of the way it ended. But, with all things considered, I realized I have been a bit too irrational. I suppose I measure our teams against our teams of the past (2009 in particular). And, maybe that is not a very smart thing to do. The 2009 team was unique, just as this team is unique. You don't necessarily need a carbon copy to get the same result.

I'm spoiled. Our fan base is spoiled. It comes with being one of the top 5 programs in history.

Barber wasn't "killing Berry". He was just hot, and the Bigs were not doing their help jobs at all early (he also lit up Nate, BTW). And FYI JB was on him the majority of the time in the second half when he wasn't getting anything.

As I said in the stat post, Roy rotated 4 guys on him, and our help-D woke up, and he eventually cooled off.
No offense, but that's the bottom line.

Roy talked pregame about using multiple guys to defend Barber, he knew we didn't have any one player capable of staying in front of him, very few teams do. And Berry picked up two quick fouls trying to do so. As Gary stated, the help defense was much better in the second half and that is the key when playing against a blur like Barber.

The bottom line was when Britt came in and then Pinson Barber REALLY cooled off. Watch the replay and you can see PINSON especially in the second half dogging Barber all over the place. The defensive move won the game and that was the bottom line.

Coach put the right people on him. Thankful he did what most fans have been asking. He always coaches tall against state. Good road win in a hostile crowd. Now on to UVA. I think that will be the most needed win of the season. If they exert their will on them, UNC will make that push for a one seed

As my boss told me one day, "You don't get a bonus for doing your job". Roy and the team definitely stepping it up a level. Even after I bashed Roy, I did say he is an old school coach and if he has to teach his team a lesson and take an L he will to get them ready for the big prize.

They said UNCs 5 losses were by a total of 17 points.

UNC is good. Our losses aren't bad as I pointed out in my good signs thread!

I noticed that Barber seemed to tire, especially after Theo measured him up. As Roy said in the presser, Nate or Joel could be up tight on him which is a risk for the blow by but Theo could play off him a bit and with his length guard him outside or hang with him on a drive...Barber was in a pickle. Nice matchup coach.
