Official - Golden is fired

Butch Davis; Just wild speculation but he could bring excitement to the program again. ACC needs Miami to be good.

So who will be the next Canes coach?

I don't think they can get a Big Name coach

In my opinion, Besides for The prestige, and recruiting hotbed, the expectations extremely outweigh the resources provided, as the coaching salary's, and facilities are average compared top counterparts, and really need to be addressed for the next staff..

They would be smart to go get.....

Scott Frost -OC of Oregon

1. They can Afford Him
2. He is a real good recruiter
3. With the the Amount of quality athletes in the Miami Area alone, It would be scary to see how he could construct that Offense. (Chip Kelly Scheme),

Somebody will hire Frost before too long.

Fuente could be in the playoff hunt much quicker at Miami than at SoCar. Tons of talent to recruit and NO bama ,LSU , UGa , Ole Miss , UF and others to have to get by..

Butch Davis said he would love to be considered for the job and might be available at a slightly lower price because of his perception of baggage.

I back Butch.

I hope he gets another chance somewhere, and if it's Miami, we'll just have to beat him.

So, can Fuente game coach AND recruit, and does he use a spread system? One downside to having to replace Fed after this year is that we'd be boxed into finding a spread coach....if we want keep building momentum.

But if we can find a Fed clone in terms of the off field program building, and that guy can actually COACH in-game, bring him on....

I'd just as soon have LF for now. I think Fed is starting to build something here and would be happy to see him stick around for the next few years. His fourth season at SMU was his breakthrough, and so far his 4th season is looking good in Chapel Hill.

Whoever they decide to hire?....That person needs to contact some of the ledgends, and get them back involved with the football program...Ed Reed has stated that he would be interested in a coaching job at Miami....

Miami has limitations with NO on campus facility, and their home field 45 minutes away doesn't attract a big home crowd unless it's FSU or U of F..

The great thing about the job is that the school is located right in the middle of a big recruiting hotbed, so the opportunity to turn the fortunes of the football program around in a hurry, should be enticing to a lot of viable coaching prospects.....

If we lost Fedora to Miami and got Fuente. I would be a very happy camper
Fuente is the real deal. Larry Porter may be a very good RB coach, but he was beyond lousy as Memphis HC. He left a totally demoralized program, absolute shambles. In his 3rd year after Porter, Fuente had 1 of the 2 best teams in school history. This is his 4th season, and he is 7-0 and ranked with a win over a ranked SEC team.

A man who can do that can win anywhere.

That said, I think Fedora intends to reap the benefits of what he has rebuilt in Chapel Hill, and we should be better next year and in 2017 and perhaps for a while. I also think that if Fedora were to leave, Chizik would want the job and get it.

You can recruit about 4 counties and be successful or at least that is what a talking head on ESPN said..

Of course, UF, FSU, and a host of other schools, including Ohio St and Michigan and ND as well as most of the SEC, look closely at that area every year. Just like they look closely at the rest of FL.

And there is more: while south FL does produce volumes of talent at WR, DB, RB, and LB, the OL players and QBs from there are much more overrated. They may get a lot of recruiting stars for size and strength (and speed for QBs), but many fewer of them truly pan out.

It's not an easy matter of just working that one area for players and then watching the Ws pile up. A Miami coach also has to persuade guys from the northeast and midwest, from the rest of FL, from TX and CA, to spend their college time down there.

Fuente >Fedora everyday of the week twice on Sunday. Memphis is the real deal. Fedora never beat a top 10 SEC team, Fuente has. Also lets be honest. Fedora is living off of Butch Davis recruits. Ebron, Bernald, Cooper, Coples, even Boston, Scott etc. I wanna see what Fedora can really do because I only see a win over Kevin Sumlin at Houston as his biggest win. Fuente already got a win over top 10 ole miss who beat Alabama and destroyed A&M.

I don't think we've played a single top 10 team since Fed got here. Not really a fair comparison when you've got a sample size of zero.

Compared to a Memphis, UNC has played plenty of top 10 teams since Fedora has been HC. Definitely not zero. Clem, ND, VT on the top of my head, and I'm sure there has been more. I think South Carolina may of even been top 10, when we played them down in Columbia a few years ago
