Well, this is it. The final show-down. It's been a long road, and it all comes down to this matchup to decide the greatest show in television history according to the fine folks of OOTB. You will have until 9 pm on Monday to vote in this matchup, and stay tuned for a special surprise after the winner is announced. Let's get to it!

DRAMA REGION CHAMPION: Breaking Bad

ANIMATION REGION CHAMPION: Looney Tunes

How Breaking Bad got here: Defeated The X-Files, defeated Better Call Saul, defeated Band of Brothers, defeated The Sopranos, defeated Saturday Night Live.

How Looney Tunes got here: Defeated Tiny Toon Adventures, defeated Rugrats, defeated Family Guy, defeated The Simpsons, defeated Cheers.

This is a matchup that features two shows with a history of memorable musical moments, so I thought it was fitting to use clips that highlight the strength of both in that regard. Looney Tunes is full of classic comedy moments that have become iconic over the years. Breaking Bad is the crown jewel in the new Golden Age of television, led by perhaps the greatest acting performance in television history. Either one would make a deserving winner. But there can only be one.
When the dust clears, I have Breaking Bad standing victorious, and it is my vote for the OOTB TV Tournament Champion.

Looney Tunes because of its overall impact.

**sidebar: Just want to let OOTB know that, because of this tourney, I finally picked back up on Breaking Bad. I had gotten to the episode of season 2
where Jane dies.
and had stopped there. Had a pretty uneventful weekend, so I watched all the way to the start of season 4.**

My gut tells me that if the people who voted Looney Tunes without watching Breaking Bad had actually watched Breaking Bad, we might not be in this situation but here we are.
That could be true. I watched the first episode of BB years ago but it just didn't interest me enough to continue. So I can't vote for a show that I haven't watched just because everyone else loves it.

However I did like S1 of Better Call Saul. I need to catch up on that show but just don't have the time right now.

Maybe but maybe not. I've seen 80% of Breaking Bad, so I know it's a really good show (plus I know how it ends). Looney Tunes is getting my vote for its impact and its standing the test of time, like JuleZ and I have outlined ITT.

I'm not saying that Looney Tunes isn't great. It is. But just because something is iconic or more well known doesn't necessarily equal better. I bet the Minions are more recognizable worldwide than the Fellowship of the Ring, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are better. Again, everyone is free to their opinion, and I love Looney Tunes, but for my money, Breaking Bad is better written, better acted, and better directed television. It's like THN said, it's apples and oranges though.

Almost everybody alive is familiar with Looney Tunes and most grew up watching it at least a little bit. It's iconic. Go say "Eh, what's up, Doc?" to somebody, no matter their age, and see how many can't tell you that's Bugs Bunny.

This is how I feel as well and why I voted for LT. If you were to ask a hundred people of any age who bugs bunny is all of them could tell you. All of those people couldn't tell you who Heisenberg is. Also, pretty much all male cartoon characters have some type of character trait or has been influenced by bugs. If you look at the facts and context of the shows then LT should run away with it.

But just because something is iconic or more well known doesn't necessarily equal better.
It's not just that though, you have to also consider cultural significance and television influence. LT is spread all throughout our culture and as I've said before bugs has influenced countless other characters. Outside of drug dealers and meth users, BB hasn't had a personal impact on people and it hasn't had an impact on television. It's one of the best written shows and the acting is great, but it hasn't changed anything.

Welp, I guess that means we can go ahead and make McDonald's the restaurant champion because it's old, it's iconic, and it's probably made the biggest impact on the world because it's so recognizable and just about every country has one.
McDonald's might not even make it to the second round.

BTW, we still need more nominations in that thread. I can't proceed until we get more.

I enjoy comedy more than drama.

Deal with it, doc.

I'm not denying the impact that Looney Tunes has had, and it's substantial, but I wouldn't agree Breaking Bad hasn't changed anything or hasn't had an impact on people or television. It's hard to say now, because we are so recently removed from it, but I have a feeling that in 10, 20, 50 years, the impact it had will be clear. However, even closely removed from it, when you watch Better Call Saul or Fargo or The Americans (three of the most acclaimed dramas currently on television), you can see the footprints. Again, it's apples and oranges, and if Looney Tunes holds on to win, I won't be mad or anything, but I just feel like Breaking Bad is a better crafted show top to bottom.

The difference is that McDonalds is iconic for serving shit food. LT is actually good. Eating the cover of a dvd of LT probably taste better than McDonalds.

Also, unless something unexpected happens in the next little bit, @TarHeelNation11 coming in and breaking the tie in the 11th hour in favor of LT is basically the equivalent of Kris Jenkins' shot.

Maybe, but you can't project what it might be, we are judging on the here and now. We can revisit in 50 years though.

Better Call Saul is a spinoff. It's not really fair to say it influenced because most of the characters are the same. I don't see it in the other two, but even if I grant you that there are footprints there it wouldn't be from BB, it would be from the sopranos. If the sopranos don't come on, then BB doesn't exist.

I'll agree that Sopranos influenced Breaking Bad, but I do think Breaking Bad was an influence on all those. The BCS stuff is obvious, because it's a spinoff, I'll grant. When you look at Fargo, especially season 1, it's way more Breaking Bad than Sopranos though. Mild-mannered nobody with no history of violence embarks on a life of crime, using his brains to outwit law enforcement and criminals alike to stay alive in treacherous circumstances and making cold-blooded decisions that didn't seem possible when we began. As for The Americans, parents trying to keep their dangerous, crime driven lifestyles hidden from their family and friends is more Breaking Bad than Sopranos. Tony's whole family knew what he did, even at the beginning. Again, it's impossible to say what impact it will have, but there are seeds already out there.
