Two rounds have been completed, and a tournament that began with 64 teams has been whittled down to the Sweet 16! We are going to be voting for all four regions from here on out. List all your choices in the matchups, so for this round, you need to pick your favorite in both of the matchups of the region. You will have until midnight on Wednesday to vote in all four threads. I’m going to do a write-up of each matchup in the beginning of each thread including a clip of each show, which will also culminate in my vote for the matchups with a spoiler warning. Lets get to it.

#1 seed Breaking Bad vs.

#5 seed Band of Brothers

For fans of Breaking Bad, you know Walter White’s alias of Heisenberg, but you may not know that the name Heisenberg comes from a German scientist known for his “uncertainty principle” and also being on the German team in WWII that was trying to create an atomic bomb. So it seems strangely fitting that these shows would be pitted against each other in this round, given that Heisenberg has gone up against the US Military before.
While Band of Brothers has a claim to be the greatest mini series ever, Breaking Bad has a claim to be the greatest series period, and so I am giving it my vote in this round.

#2 seed Justified vs.

#3 seed The Sopranos

One of television’s greatest lawmen faces off against one of its greatest criminals. Who will take this round? Justified mixes snappy dialogue with action in a rural setting that makes it feel like a modern take on the old West. The Sopranos mixes Family business with family business, with moments that can go from thought provoking to brutally violent on a hairpin turn. Both have memorable characters, unexpected surprises, and are among my favorite series of all time.
For my money though, I have to give it to The Sopranos.

Breaking Bad
Justified

(My most difficult picks in the tournament so far. I LOVE all four of these shows.)

Breaking bad
The sopranos ( tough call like both shows!)

Band of Brothers
Sopranos

Sopranos was a tough call since Justified is so good. But Sopranos has more depth.

No bad choices here.

Are you not voting for B.O.B. because you've never watched it, or you can't decide between it and BB?
Haven't seen either.

If he hasn't seen Band of Brothers, he kindly needs to exit America.
Actually, maybe America would be better off if we didn't base our self-worth on how many hours we wasted sitting in front of a television.

I should add that the drama and the miscellaneous regions have gone pretty much exactly as they should have gone. The other two, especially animation, you guys just decided to send straight to hell.

Wrong.

How many folks that voted for the Sopranos have actually seen Justified?
Both shows are GREAT! I actually started watching both shows before anyone else in my family, but I immediately started working on them to watch them and everyone was glad they did. I loved the Sopranos, although I wasn't crazy about the way it ended, but I voted for Justified because I had so much fun watching the episodes, talking about them with family including my two brothers (who I got to watch the show) and friends (who I got to watch the show), and anticipating the next episode. Anyway, I guess it came down to which show do I MISS more, and that is Justified. However, it's a popularity contest on a message board, so I'm just happy Raylan and Boyd lost to another great group of characters like Tony and Paulie.

What's funny is when I watched Justified I often thought of your neck of the woods... well, specifically, Clinton. It ain't that bad in Clinton, but a lot of the characters and less-then-legal shenanigans in Justified's version of Harlan definitely reminded me of Sampson County. Especially the oxy story lines.

My older brother was a district court judge in eastern North Carolina and he said Dickie Bennett was in his courtroom every day!

I do not doubt it. A buddy of mine has a friend from Eastern Kentucky and he said the show's portrayal of some of that area is spot on. He said there's Dewey Crowes everywhere and he said there really are mountains where black communities live.
