According to twitter and students who were there, the shooter was targeting Christians.
This is not verfied or otherwise substantiated and I havent found any report on shooter's nationality or religious persuasion, if any.

The shooter singled out Christians:
“[He started] asking people one by one what their religion was. ‘Are you a Christian?’ he would ask them, and if you’re a Christian stand up. And they would stand up and he said, ‘Good, because you’re a Christian, you are going to see God in just about one second.’ And then he shot and killed them,” Stacy Boylen, whose daughter was wounded at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., told CNN.
I would call that domestic terrorism. "Domestic terrorism" means activities with the following three characteristics:
- Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
- Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
- Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
Actually, it is the country we live in. No other developed nation in the world lives like this.
And no other country in the world is as large and diverse as we are.

Really? 294 mass shootings so far in 2015??? What is your definition of "mass shooting"? Did Obama speak out about all of them?
That number comes from the Mass Shooting Tracker, which uses a definition of four or more killed or injured by gunfire.
It's true that the US is not in the top 100 of countries by murder rate worldwide. But we are #1 among industrialized nations. I don't think we should be patting ourselves on the back because our murder rate is better than Sudan's.
I saw that, but wasn't sure if you were quoting that site... Do you agree with their definition?
It's a subjective term, so I don't think there can be one "right" definition. This one is probably slightly over-inclusive because it would include situations in which several people were grazed or lightly wounded. But the FBI's definition (three or more killed by gunfire) is slightly under-inclusive because it wouldn't include situations like the Lafayette theater shooting this year where 2 were killed and 9 wounded. I think it's fair to say that, in most situations, if four or more people are wounded in a gun attack, it's a mass shooting.
I was thinking along the lines of five or more killed by gunfire, but that is completely arbitrary on my part...
Now that it has been established that this mass shooter was targeting white Christians, will Obama attend the memorial service and sing Amazing Grace? Or, after making his political statement that he will politicize this every time it occurs, will Obama now shut up about the victims?
