The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has received top ratings this year from all three nationally recognized statistical rating organizations, commonly known as the “Big Three” credit rating agencies, reinforcing the University’s strong financial profile.
Earlier this week, Moody’s Investor Service and Fitch Ratings both issued their highest ratings to the University, Aaa and AAA respectively.
Standard and Poor’s (S&P) affirmed the University’s AAA rating January 12.
“This was the first time that the University was rated using S&P’s revised rating methodology, which was introduced on January 6, 2016,” said Matt Fajack, vice chancellor for finance and administration. “S&P characterized both the University’s enterprise profile and financial profile as strong.”
