Not a good start to what has been a troubling pre conference trend. It makes a big difference, gotta step up in some of these nuetral court matchups. It matters for the NET.

The conference is just not very good anymore. It's UNC, dook, UVA, and an occasional breakout from someone else (lately Miami). Louisville and Cuse have become so much worse than they were 8-10 years ago.

Can't wait until we can welcome our new SEC overlords.

Cuse looked decent today vs a VERY GOOD Tenn squad.

The fact you're highlighting a game they lost by 17 as a good example tells you all you need to know lol.

From 2008 - 2014 Cuse was never lower than a #4 seed in the NCAA tournament. They had two #1 seeds in that six year span, were ranked #1 in the country in three different years, and had two Elite Eights and a Final Four.

From 1982 - 2006 (24 seasons) Cuse was only lower than a #7 seed four times. That's a pretty impressive run! We haven't been even as high as a #7 seed in any of the last four years. They won one title in that span and made two other championship games.

Now they've missed the tournament 5 of the last 9 seasons, and haven't been higher than an #8 seed in any of those years. They had one flukish Final Four as a #8 seed (hopefully we're not on this trend....) and have otherwise been totally mediocre / irrelevant.

Unfortunately Louisville has done the same, we've regressed, dook has underachieved in the tournament (I'm okay with this part), UVA is no longer peak Bennett, and the bottom third of the conference is mid-major level.

You ain't wrong.
Cuse did look better than I thought they would under Autry in year one. This was a 5 point game at around. 5-.6 min mark, then the wheels Fell off .

The ACC got a much needed Quad1 win today from an unlikely source as Fla St just beat #18 Colorado to win the Sunshine Slam tournament. Fla St has now extended their OT winning streak to an NCAA record 14 wins!!!
Everyone of these non conference wins is a big deal over the next month.

Nice win for sure, but I'm not sold on Colorado. Checking quad wins at this point is a crap shoot. But, gotta get these non conference solid wins overall. Where they end up in quads is up for grabs. UNC is a microcosm of the league. Can't lose 75% of non conference matchups that fit a quad 1 or 2 longrun. Winning these 3 or 4 matchups mean NOTHING they can only hurt not help. Looking forward to Atlantis.

More lumps being handed out by beatdowns. GA. Tech and Pitt not even close, dog walked. BC bad loss. Virginia at least barely escaped another loss.

Early, but it's quite possible that Dook and Miami might be the only well thought of matchups come conference time. The tournaments are not helping to build resumes. SEC/ACC challenge will be important across the board.

I enjoyed watching my alma mater beat the snot out of that punk Capel.
Walter Clayton, who dropped 28pts, is a local kid from my area.

Happy for Wes at Cincinnati too. He is on the hot seat after 2 sub par years on the court, and recruiting. They play an extremely watered down non conference schedule, so Georgia Tech is a good win. Gotta get it done in conference with their non conference opponents this year though.

Our secret scrimmage opponent, FAU, just mopped the floor with Virginia Tech. Not even competitive.

UNC, FSU, puke, Miami seem to be leading the conference. I'm hopeful others will step up eventually.

Canes got boat raced by Kensucky, but Ga Tech pulls the upset on Mississippi State. Clemson looks like they can play with Alabama early, tied at 25, 5 min to play 1st half.

Colorado blew the doors off of Miami. Looks like the ACC will not have a lot of high quality win opportunities in conference.

They beat the squat out of UM today .. it was an ugly beat too.
It was a 9 point game with 10 minutes to play, and then Colorado just hit the gas. Also Colorado was playing without a key player.

Miami appears to have very little big man depth and their starter keeps getting in foul trouble.

Yep, I was at the game. Miami completely fell apart. Looked ridiculous. BC game was a bit better (it was a quadruple header with several games).

Not a ton going well for the ACC, though Clemson looks great.

Clemson is 9-0, and in 1st place in the ACC. That might be a first, at this point.

Clemson played well on the road and lost a hard fought, 2 point, well played game. No shame in that loss. Nice win for Penny's boys though. PJ Hall once again a beast.

ACC ADs have replaced a lot of high quality coaches over the past decade and more with also rans, over hyped guys, and just plain bum alums. That and vastly greater Sec and BT mkikney because of football SUPERIORITY in terms of fans means that ACC basketball is in peril of being sent down the ladder permanently.

Penny's boys at Memphis followed up the close win over Clemson by beating the breaks off of Virginia. Notre Dame beaten soundly by The Citadel.

The Oklahoma game is getting larger with the future ACC opponents lack of success continuing.

Florida State in serious trouble against Lipscomb, and even more surprisingly Virginia getting absolutely DOG WALKED by a Notre Dame team that has been AWFUL.

Wow! FSU beaten AT HOME by... Lipscomb! That FSU win doesn't do much for the Heels, now.

UVA looked horrible against ND.

Wake Forest is smoking the Hokies!
