Our frontcourt is a mess

Washington got pushed around by midmajor bigs all night, struggled to get out on shooters, and didn't do anything on offense aside from finish a few point blank bunnies our guards gave him.

Tyson gave us nothing on either end of the floor. He looked slow and weak against a midmajor.

Withers had a tremendous first half, and then he turned back into old Withers in the 2nd half with the drives to nowhere and failing to get back on defense.

Lubin at least was consistently hustling and physical, but his height issue was obvious the whole game.

Our portal misses loom large as we look towards the real frontcourts we have on our schedule. These guys would all be backups on good Carolina teams. I think we need to really consider playing more small ball and going to a full court press.

As I said 3 months ago we are a firm bubble team in March if Withers as our 5.

The basketball program is a mess. A lot of losing is coming. You can bury your head in the sand but its coming. A ton of empty seats tonight for a home opener. We got backups at best in the portal and our high school recruiting is not Carolina like.

Agree....think Powell and Jackson should get Tysons minutes too. Find some time for Brown as well.

Early on Withers has struggled guarding Adams, and Lubin has gotten owned by Dickinson. Washington has at least been solid on Dickinson.

Well, that changed. He was the strongest force on our roster in the paint. Hurt when he followed out.

Lubin is a very productive backup big. High IQ, active and tough. He gives us a mobile cutter and offensive rebounder. He keeps his hands high and has nice length despite being only 6'8".
Something needs to happen to unleash Jalen Washington. He really looks healthy and now I think he needs a boost of confidence from his head coach to look for his perimeter offense. He has become a one trick pony through first two games only rolling to the basket. At times he doesn't even face the basket. I think he and Lubin can make a nice 1-2 punch at the 5 spot once JWash opens his game up.

Withers had 1 rebound. Lubin had 2 rebounds. That's just ridiculous. RJ Davis, the smallest guy on the court managed to grab 3 rebound himself. Our big men must play a lot better.
