Now PLEASE hijack this thread and talk UNC basketball !

I have an irrational hatred for all things Canada and by proxy Evan Daniels and by proxy Kentucky basketball and by proxy..... hell you guys got the point! GO HEELS! Future back to back to back national champions! Honestly I don't even know why other teams are still playing basketball!

tl;dr ;)

List of recruits visiting this weekend

2017 PF PJ Washington
2018 G Coby White (commited)
2018 C David McCormak
2019 SF Wendell Moore
2019 OF Christian Brown

is this a blatant attempt top hijack this thread? If so, at a boy! LOL

And PS, McCormick, dang this is one big son of a mother!

Personnel or Personal? Moore is a big recruit. I would like to win this one vs, dook to turn around the in state losses (what's his name Ingram and Harry what's his name)

FYI: 5* 2018 PF EJ Montgomery from here in GA just committed to Auburn, which could* help UNC's cause with Brooks (*that last part is hopeful speculation of course).

I posted a few days ago that his commitment to AU was likely within the week, but hey, what do I know?... my tidbits are "incorrect"....

Hope you're right Gary. And for the record...I love your hot little tidbits.

Thanks. That one is interesting in that they have 5* Austin Wiley coming in December, who plans to to be a One-And-a-half-and-Done, which means he'll be there for Brooks's freshman season, and now they have Montgomery coming in behind. Pearl has been desperate for quality size, and now he's getting in on a lot more. Granted, Wiley is a double-legacy --- his dad played there and his mom is AU legend Vickie Orr. And Montgomery's sister already plays there.

Bruce is not known for inside-out offenses, so I'm *hoping Garrison will think things are getting crowded. The other caveat though is that EJ may well be another one of those big kids who fancies himself "positionless"... we shall see.

He's currently favored to dook on 24/7 but it's way too early seeing as the 2019 class are currently sophomores in high school. But I agree, I really would like to win that battle.

Excuse me but doesn't anyone want to say............argue about personal stuff? (LOL)

Looks like Roy is changing his methods and casting a really wide net and getting onto them early.
Pull 'em Roy!

Ya think Wiley is there longer than 1 season? Why?

Why ya have to be so personel and argue bout stuff? LOL (note the on purpose misspell)

Roy kinda has to get offers out sooner, we are playing a bit from behind so we need to build those relationships sooner and deeper than before.

I would think UNC has a good chance at Moore.... I know he is a Dook fan but IMO I think they want Rowan Barrett more so Moore may be their back up option unless they offer soon and he is a priority for UNC. Side note I like Joey Baker in the 2019 class also not sure if we could get Moore and Baker but would be nice.

Tried to post this to the Knox thread but it has been locked.

I apologize if what I posted came off as trolling - it was not my intention and I hoped that stating that I agreed with the poster (to some degree) would make that clear. I never intended it to blow this thread up. And the Knox recruitment is something we are all interested in.
My intention was to say that I don't believe Knox will wait until the spring to make his decision BECAUSE of Tatum. He may wait until the spring - I have no confidence either way about any claim about that. I won't list here the projected one and done players who were projected in the top 5 of the next year's draft who weren't eventually one and done - but it is this, and what I perceive to be a very high floor with Tatum, why I am very confident that he is one and done. I think most people feel the same way and I believe Knox has been told as much by Duke and/or others. If you disagree with me here, that is fine.
As for the list of (highly unlikely) things that would change the decision, I'm not going to write that because again, none of this was meant to be condescending or an attack on anyone and writing out a list like that is an invitation for insult. I listed retirements and probation and some took offense - I should have left those out.
As for ghosting - well I don't visit the messages boards much over the weekend. I wasn't avoiding anything.
Thanks to those who stood up for what they believed was not a hostile post. I have thick skin and I don't take these things personally. People love their team and I can relate to that. I expect a little hostility if I say something in opposition to someone who is probably a well respected pro-carolina poster here.

I just don't get why you are wasting your time on a UNC board to talk about a player Duke is also recruiting. If you come on here with "duke" in your username, why would you expect to be met with open arms? 99.999% of them are trolls so of course we're going to assume you are one also.

I'm sure you can find a Knox thread on the Duke board to share your opinion.

Dookies could post "water is wet" and be accused of trolling. Lol. Thanks to your predecessors coming in here ad nauseum to torture us over the ncaa probs certain posters are hyper sensitive to any dook post. I commend u for being thick skinned and coming back to apologize though. Lots of us could certainly benefit from not taking this stuff so personally for sure. I for one welcome opinions from other fan bases that dont violate TOS.

In all fairness Theres several regulars in here that post on dook's board a lot. They have a couple rational people who can discuss bball civilly.

Not all that much of a problem to me, I was, still am willing to discuss. But you have to realize that a hated rival fan coming here is not going to be able to state things as facts that are actually opinions when those opinions differ from our own. But this much is fact, until Tatum or Justin Jackson enter their name in the next draft AND hire an agent, next season being their last is not a fact, it is only fact when they can no longer play college ball.

YOU, me nor anyone else knows for fact if next season will be the last college season for either Tatum or Justin, we ALL believe it will be but that is not a absolute fact. MANY Tar Heels would have told you last season at this time that last season would be the last Kennedy Meeks would play in college, that he was absolutely sure he would enter the last NBA draft. I know this for sure because I argued with everyone, even Andrew that I did not think it was gonna work out like that. Just because it is highly likey does not make it fact until it actually happens.

And you know as well as I, it is better to be safe than sorry, Knox will announce in the spring so he is able to be safe rather than sorry.

I get it. You guys are passionate about your team and my post was seen as some kind of an attack by some - but that wasn't my intention.
I think you and I just see it a bit differently about Tatum and how it affects Knox. I believe that if he plays well in 10ish games and then say has an injury (like Kyrie but maybe without the tournament return), he'll have a large enough body of work for the people at Duke to be able to say with some certainty about his draft stock. I think that can be enough for Knox to know that there would be a spot for him at Duke. If he plays well, as most expect, and isn't injured, that can also be enough after some number of games. So I don't think Knox needs to see what happens into the spring with Tatum to make his decision. With Jackson, it is a bit different and I definitely believe that if UNC is in play for Knox (it clearly is) that he would need to wait until spring when Jackson's future is more clear. I actually think as time goes on, that looks worse for Duke for the very reasons I've outlined. So if you think Knox waits until the spring to see about Tatum's future, I think you are wrong (and that's the worst thing I'll call you or anyone else). And you can/do disagree with me - and I'm ok with that.
As for posting on a UNC board - well I like to think Knox is in play for Duke and I certainly want to hear what you all are saying. Not a fan of "group think." It is too bad things blew up and we couldn't continue, in a civil way, to discuss Knox on that thread.

He's waiting until the spring so he can see how everything is playing out, not just 1 or 2 guys. This is pretty cut and dry. If Duke fans are expecting a commitment after his first visit in October then be prepared for disappointment. He may very well go to Duke, but he isn't going to commit until the spring.

As gary as said, surveying the landscape.

Well clearly we will have to disagree with why Knox is waiting thou I confess, not sure I understand why such an easy point is not agreed on? But hey, its fine, just one of those things I guess. As for the group think, while I am not exactly the definition of group think, it is kind of a fact of life on venues like this. Nature of the beast is to defend your house and this is a tar heel house, a fact that should come front and center to any rival fan, just as that fact is front & center for any Tar Heel fan that may venture on to a rivals fan site that it is someone else's house.

yeah, it makes the most sense to wait and see what everyone else does...

I'm willing to drop it and see what happens. And then apologize if I am wrong.
I am not looking to prove you right or wrong so no apology is or will be needed. I was just wanting to try to get you to see a point that to me seems easy to accept and one that boogie seems to get as well.

Look, physics dude, while others may have been maybe a lil to hard on ya, I don't think I have treated you unfairly. Now I may hit back hard but until you become less than respectful I will treat you with respect. I try to state my positions as being my opinion and it does rub me very wrong when others state their opinions and try to sell them as fact.

Hey, if I'm wrong I can admit it. And I didn't read anything in your responses that implied anything other than you wanted to make your point - so I hear you and I have no issues with you. And as far as it rubs you wrong about facts/opinions - I know you are consistent in that at least. You took some abuse over questioning another person on here. I can definitely respect consistency. I hope in all of this what came across is I meant no disrespect to anyone - just that I don't agree with you. As I said, I'm going to drop the specific issue because some are far less reasonable/mature than you.

Yeah, got dragged thru the mud a lil bit today, I expect it time to time, kinda what happens when you are not shy about sharing your opinions, there is always someone out there that is going to disagree and look to tear you down. I am just not built to back away from an opinion unless I have solid reason to so I say what I think and I defend it until I see clear reason for me to adjust my opinions due to new information. That is what I mean when I say I play hard ball but I do try to play fair unless my opponents takes it to a different place.

I do not see that you have in any way been disrespectful, disagreement is not disrespect, only disrespect is disrespect and I have not found you disrespectful, I would love to exchange with you more. Just understand, lots of Tar Heels are very sensitive because all the nonsense we have had to defend against for the last 5yrs. We have seen what were good posters that love rival programs go off the reservation on us, just flip and say really bad things, so we can tend to get defensive pretty quick and especially so with fans of major rival programs. Ya kinda would have to go thru what we have for the last 5yrs or so to really be able to understand why we at times can shoot first and ask questions later.
