"His pass-catching arsenal was less than inspiring, and Howell crumbled under duress. He let three turnover-worthy plays slip under pressure, resulting in the second-worst grade on pressured dropbacks in Week 1. "

I watched a few more replays, and while the C and LG sucked, Sam looked like rookie.

It's like he's afraid to just throw it away or to take a hit right in the pocket. He's getting happy feet too soon or deciding to "scramble for loss" too quickly. He's amazing if you give him solid pass-pro, but he quickly becomes self-inflicting if it isn't.

I think Sam had one really bad pick, one was Olson being weak and not securing the ball (not sure how that wasn't reviewed but oh well), and one where the entire play was rushed when Mack didn't take a TO. I think that whole play was panic from the snap from everyone. I wouldn't write Sam off yet, though. He's got guys that aren't sure how to get open yet and an offensive line that has him running for his life from the snap. Honestly, every "big time" QB in the country outside of Bryce Young looked like crap week 1. DJ looked like he had never thrown a football against UGA, even from a clean pocket. Rattler couldn't figure out Tulane... Let's see how Sam and the offense adjust. I expect it will get much better going forward.

Me too. People here are getting too down on us, not that there wasn't much to be down about. I think a drop to 17 is about right, all things considered.

One thing I agree with is that as good as Sam is, he needs to learn to handle the adverse more appropriately. There's always next play.. Seems coaching would have helped in that regard by now.

I wasn't going to harp on the officiating because I always hate the knee-jerk 'but that isn't why we lost the game' mantra. But I agree that he should have been called down with a catch. Additionally that last int, which was reviewed, was not a caught ball. The ground helped him and his hands were not between the ground and the ball, or at least that seemed clear to me from one particular view.

We were flagged for a late hit out of bounds that wouldn't have normally been called. Yet later in the game, we were similarly hit late out of bounds and they let it go. I just hate the inconsistency and I really hate the incompetency of booth review.

I,M NOT really qualified, but here goes. All of this Forems talk, he says she says, Bla,Bla, doesn't mean zip point diddly!!! Lets see what happens on Saturday and then wait for Macks run dow on what happened because we have to prepare for Virginia next, ONE GAME AT A TIME.

I disagree. I think you are eminently qualified to make that claim. It's just that it has little to do with a forum designed to allow gasbags to pass gas. That being said I completely agree with you.

That Olson pick was a garbage call. Poor play by Olson, but either it was incomplete all around or it was a catch by Olson. Everyone expected it to be reviewed, obviously that didn't happen.
