Pitt basketball is at best the 5th most popular sport on campus, behind Steelers, Pitt footballs, Pirates and Penguins. Hell, the Eagles may be more popular than Pitt basketball.

Only issue there is his age, wouldn't be long until they were looking again. I'd be looking for an up-comer. Haase wouldn't be a bad choice.

Dixon left a sinking ship. Pitt has succeeded with NYC and Northeastern kids for as long as they were in the Big East. Since they moved to the ACC, their recruiting has dried up. Dixon was able to patch together a team this year with a bunch of transfers, but is finding out that recruiting a Northeast kid to Pittsburg is tougher now than it used to be. They followed the football gold and it has cost them their basketball program. (You may substitute BC for Pitt in this narrative if you like).

I'm sure Pitt's academics will improve if they spend the football money wisely. The basketball, however, is definitely gonna suck.
