If I remember right I read an article saying he suppose to make his decision on the 8th or 9th and sign during the early signing period is this correct and do you see him signing with us?

He said he wants to commit during the Early Period. However, he's not listed as one of the commitments yet, per 247

IMO, we're in 2nd place behind Kentucky. I kinda wished his decision would be after Richards' commitment to UK and Bamba's eventual decision, as that may would give us a better shot with him.

I think PJ commits to UK, and its all or nothing for Vanderbilt (Who I think we have the better shot with at this point).

Would love to be wrong and see him commit to UNC, but just don't think that happens unfortunately.

Yes he's signing early and no it won't be with us.

I love the bold statements.

As I read on the Vegas visit and compare the thoughts PJ's Dad expressed used a very different language in adjectives or descriptors than they used following other visits.

Dad/coach mentioned PJ making a decision in the early signing period. Dad's description of the Vegas visit, "it went well" is a far cry from his UNC visit or "it's close to home" and "great for the family"...Dad mentioned that they discussed how PJ fits with them...and not a whole lot more.

They had more to offer following our visit...so the mention of decision in the early signing period may well happen, as Dad and PJ have stayed consistent, to paraphrase, they want to make the call and move on..."to get it over with"...

As a few of us have mentioned, the UNLV visit was simply a thank you to Findlay Prep. He was never going to go there.

He'll announce for UK either this week or next.

And hence the underwhelming accolades thrown out to UNLV.

9th to the 16th is the early signing period if you want to nail it down.

Can you give me the winning Power Ball numbers for this week?

No, but every recruiting expert who is saying the same thing maybe can help you out.

I don't know anything about PJ aside from what I learn from experts. When all of them think/know the same thing, it's usually right.

I hope it's more on the think side, then the know side. haha.

I think it depends on the kid and his family. PJ's dad is an open book with these guys so it seems to be more on the "know" with him.

7th is the most recent example I can think of that was on the "think" side, just because him and his family kept it all very close to the chest.

Put it this way SK...
It would surprise no one if he picked UK next week.
It would surprise everyone if he picked UNC.

Roy truly has been in this one all along but it looks like we're going to finish a very strong 2nd. Just wish that was worth something.

Paul has been an open book? Where is that open book, I want to read a chapter or 2? Maybe there is something on 4cs but from everything I have seen Paul and PJ have held what they really think very close. They have said nice things about all their visits but I have not seen anything concrete. I don't think either Paul or his son are talking or at least telling former coaches ect much because they want this to remain closely held until they make the announcement.

Well, not exactly everyone...LOL

So PJ & Pops are holding cards close to the vest and have kept the same position from early on in the process and "recruiting experts" all across the globe apparently know some inside scoop...experts they say.

No. They haven't been playing it close to the chest at all. Anyone who gets an interview with Pops gets an earful about how much he loves Payne on the UK staff. They also hear how important it is for PJ to get to the next level. They've done interviews with every recruiting site out there.

That's why experts who talk directly to PJ and his dad all feel he's going to UK.

I don't know why some of you have such a hard time trusting people who get paid to do this for a living and instead want to discredit them in favor of your own opinions that are based on very little.

There are a great many places from which to glean information.
I'm just so glad we have posters here to tell us all with definitive statements fact what is going on with a recruit.

Why is Carolina settling for these kids. Another commit Wednesday would almost end to class of 2017. Four of the five commits are not even in the top 200 in most rankings

if you're gonna troll, at least troll with correct info. Now scram.

Finishing second in recruiting doesn't mean squat unfortunately. You either get the kid or you don't.

Haha I almost included you in the post but didn't want to call you out Dave.

Ned my friend, it would have been fine if you had, not a secret that I am out on this island alone, I am used to it. I am trying to represent something, trying to stand for something. I looked at the situation, brought together all the facts I could assemble, considered all new facts as they came and formulated an opinion, right or wrong. My opinions do not have to be the majority opinion, they just have to be what I believe, I am not going to change what I believe just cause many others believe differently.

I have laid out my case and I have not seen a challenge so strong that caused me to reconsider thou I have been willing to all the way thru this. As I have said all along, I don't know where PJ will commit and no one else does either unless you are PJ or Paul.

A "very strong 2nd"? Shame they don't give out participation awards or certificates in recruiting.

We finished second in the NCAA last season to and as heart breaking as that last second loss was, there is only 1 team that would not have loved to have traded places with us.

2nd in the tournament is very different than 2nd in recruiting.

I'm happy as a clam since I'm old enough to know that no single recruit defines our coach or our recruiting! As long as I know we are on the short list to hang banners, I'm happy with recruiting!

+ I firmly believe we will get a 5*. If not, I bet we beat the breaks off the youngsters with our cohesive, skillful, and experienced lineups for the foreseeable future

True enough. And what a great performance that was.

And yet . . . Suppose our 2015 recruiting classes had included 1 of the bigs we went after. Here's the list, for those who don't remember:

Rabb
Ellenson
Jeter
Skal
Diamond Stone
Zimmerman

[Plus Thomas Bryant, whom I mention only because I really wish we had offered him.]

Sure, you can point out that Jeter and Skal were disappointments. But would that have been true if they were on our team, being coached by our coaching staff? My bet is when Kennedy was injured and never quite recovered, Roy would have gotten excellent play out of either of those guys.

Maybe that wouldn't have mattered in the championship game. Who knows? But it could have.

I would only want Rabb, Ellenson or Stone. I'm glad the rest chose elsewhere. If you want revisionist history, I want Danny Manning!
