POLL: Was It A Goal Tend Or A Block?

It was a block that never should have been called a goal-tend.
After watching several replays, in some it looked like a goal tend, and in some it looked like it was right at or just after the peak. Never before the peak, but maybe right at the top of the arc.
So . . . what happened to needing conclusive evidence to overturn the call made on the floor? Is that just a joke now? We can override the call made on the floor by calling it an "inadvertent whistle?"
Look, it wasn't an inadvertent whistle. I'm not saying there is no such thing, but if it's inadvertent, it isn't accompanied by a call. I mean maybe you can inadvertently make the whistle sound, but how do you inadvertently make the signal for goal tend?

I completely disagree. And so do the videos I watched.
Maybe there are other videos I didn't see, but I'm going by what I saw with my own eyes.
It was a block.
But there was also a charge that should have been a blocking foul (2 shots for UNC) bc the Bama player's foot was in the restricted arc.
Also RJ was fouled on his desperation 3.
But you have to expect the refs to be terrible. Which is why you value every possession by running actual plays. We spent the last 30 minutes of game time asking RJ and Caleb to play hero ball.

If an inadvertent whistle stops play, the clock should be adjusted and the team that had the ball should bring it in.
Sure, sure, they did a little fancy mental gymnastics by saying there was no possession because the ball left the hand. But that doesn't smell right when they were just making up for their mistake, I mean inadvertent call.
If you aren't going to call goal tending, then neither team did anything wrong. So why is one team being penalized, and the other getting an advantage? That shouldn't happen when the refs made the mistake.

I know what I saw. Go to the ESPN Scoreboard and you'll see what I saw. Goal tend.
Your "own eyes" should never be asked to make any real judgment calls regarding anything. That ball was NEVER heading downward. It was on an upward trajectory all the way.
You are right about the restricted area charge it would of been Miller's 5th also. The bench has to ask to review that, you can review if he is in the restricted. It would have been overturned.
The bump on the desperation final shot is rarely called that far out, so I would of been more surprised if it was.
The goal tend review was put in a couple years back exactly for that type play. With it, they got a key call right, it was clearly not coming down. Heck, the refs called it a goal tend live, they called it for UNC the replay showed otherwise.

That is a rule book call, no room for wiggle room there or interpretation. When it is overturned the whistle is by definition an inadvertent whistle with neither team in possession the ball was in mid air. A jump ball. Would have sucked more if UNC got the block, Bama had it anyway, but the call would have been the same. If UNC had the arrow it wouldn't of mattered that the ball was rebounded by Bama either. That is the only call that could be made.
