Clearly, this team has absolute faith in its offense. Everybody was calm, cool, and collected. They knew they could do it. That probably doesn't surprise any of us, except that maybe some of might have felt that because Pitt totally stuffed the running game, we'd see some panic.

Here is what I find interesting: I think the team had confidence that the D would stand up and do the job when it counted most.

if we had just 1 truly 1st rate DT to clog the middle and disrupt offenses, I think the D would feed on that 1 playmaking star and be rather solid. Not dominating, but solid.

I think it was an in-freaking-credible ending. That was 3 hours of frustration and three minutes of "Can you BELIEVE THIS?"

If UNC had a defense to match their offense, we'd be in the Top 10. I happened to catch the halftime show and there was a commentary on our recruiting being very good. Maybe that will improve our defense. Something about UNC was getting 4 of the 5 top players in the state of NC.

If UNC ever hopes to be on the same stage as Clemson, it's going to require a much better defense. But, if they're content with being divisional contenders, then they're good-to-go.

One great DT isn't going to do it. Plus, Naz Jones is pretty good. We were hurt most on those sweeps around the end anyway.

The D stayed on the field what seemed like most of the game. Pitt ground it out with the running game in the second half. When our O hit the field, it was quick strike everytime it seemed. Those boys did good at the end. You know they had to be gassed. I know I was.
I am thankful for or QB. That cat had ice water in his veins yesterday.

OMG was my post game thoughts, OMG!!!

We lead for a grand total of 2 seconds of this game and we won...OMG!!!!

What a game for recruits to be there for!

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around that miraculous comeback. It has to go down as one of the more improbable final drives I've ever witnessed. Just pure ice water in Mitch's veins. I don't know if there's another QB in the country that could have done what he did, converting 3 remarkable 4th and longs on the final drive alone, when your rushing attack generates a mere 18 yeards in 22 attempts. And he had a lot of help from our great receiving corp, especially Switz who displayed as much heart as you will ever see. Mitch looking cool as a cucumber and fiery Switz leading by example. And Proehl and Bug came up huge as well.

Unbelievable game. I'm hoping to see a replay somewhere. Beuler? Beuler?

Another stat that is astounding is that we had more 1st downs and more total yardage, despite the fact that Pitt had the ball 41:09 minutes to our 18:51. That simply doesn't compute.

Warning, the commercial doesn't play smoothly but the highlights do. Enjoy.

I'm thinking next week in Tallahasee will be affected by the grit of this win. This win matters more than just a W. Like all of us dissecting every coaching call, when you compare our preparation and focus in critical situations (hello LSU), you see the coaching behind every Saturday. The Heels have the tools to stay poised on the road and out score FSU. Great game, very proud of entire team, and especially fans.

I won't lie, that entire game frustrated the hell out of me. BUT our team found a way to get stops when they needed them (thanks Nate Peterman for a few inaccurate throws at just the right time) and the offense knew exactly what it needed to do with those final few minutes in the 4th quarter. It will be tough to beat Florida State if we start as slowly as we did against Pitt but I'm proud of Carolina's resolve. We control our destiny as some have said above, and hopefully we travel to FSU as a ranked team next week.

What we are watching Mitch do so far this season is something so special that we can't even imagine it until he is done. Yesterday, everyone knew our only chance was to pass, Pitt blitzed what. 80%+ of the time knowing we had to pass. And yet Mitch stood in there, took the punishment, took what the defense gave him and did not try to do to much (which usually gets you in to trouble). He makes it look much easier than it is and maybe does not get enough credit for that. I have never seen better QB play for UNC than I have seen from Mitch so far this season.

Gio's return to sink the wuffies or this leading only 2 sec for the entire game, converting 3 4th down plays, and hitting the game winning TD pass with 2 sec on the clock? Fed's teams are exciting but those 2 games will be talked about 20yrs from now!

How about these seasonal numbers?

102 of 137 for 1,306 yards
74.5% completion rate
9.53 yards per attempt
10 TD's with 0 INT's
QB rating of 178.6
3 rushing TD's

Just funny numbers right there.

I just hope that if/when he does throw one it isn't a tipped ball or some garbage that ends the streak.

We need him to have a career game if we're going to hang with FSU.

a career game from the "D" wouldn't hurt either. Hold them to say 30 points.

Forcing some mistakes will probably be the key there. Hopefully the defense can get enough pressure to force the freshman QB into throwing a couple of picks.

Larry Fedora vs Jimbo Fisher is the match up I'm the most worried about

That sounds like a Bobby Petrino move...
LSU just fired their all time #1 winning % coach, the day after his team lost a heartbreaker on an overturned TD because the ball was snapped late.

If you have a decent HC job, you should want to avoid Baton Rouge. They will not be happy wioth any coach who can't be better than Saban is at Bama.

I dunno man, I'd be pretty darn interested to go from making a million dollars a year to making 4-6 million a year whether I fail or not.

Jimbo and Herman are making much more than a million per year. So is Petrino. Will those guys give up what they have now to risk the LSU boosters?

I tend to think not.

College coaches are a funny bunch. But seriously, you can't tell me Herman wouldn't throw his hat in the ring, so would Petrino. I think they have a hard time prying away Jimbo from FSU. But that fertile recruiting area mixed with an unlimited amount of resources from the university would be enough to get almost anyone LSU wants, that's one thing the boosters will make sure of.

Listened to a bit of the Mike & Mike show and boy Mike Green (?) was all over LSU for a boneheaded move. And I agree. Why would they fire a coach at this time? 4 games in...At this juncture, they should have been finishing out the season, opening discussions where and when they could and hire in the off season. But no. Not with that crowd. Good luck to them.

anyone taking that job knows they have at most three yrs to beat bama and win the sec. Meantime they better win at least 10 games and be in the top 10

Anybody listen to "Larry Fedora Live" tonight? The guests were Bug and Austin Proehl. Jones asked Larry about the hold on Switzer's punt return TD. Fedora said you can ask Bug about that in just a minute when he comes on. Jones also said "Coach you looked visibly upset when Switzer called an early fair catch on a punt" Fedora said "Yeah they tried to kick it to the sideline and the whole cover team was headed that direction but it drifted back to the center of the field and our blockers had them sealed against the sideline and Switzer had an open lane straight to the goal line". Jones said Switzer has probably already broken that record in his mind, Fedora said yeah He's already a lot of things in his mind like best looking guy in the room etc etc.
