Last year a couple of folks posted requests/comments on the games I selected in the NCAAF prediction contest. Strummy and Rich, may have been a couple . .

What are some of the games you all would like for me to concentrate on . . ?

In the past, I've targeted games that are within a 7.5 point, but, at times I simply had to go to some that may have been closer to a 10.5 point margin from the offered top 25 teams.

Do you guys want me to go further to say a 14 point game or keep it the same . . ?

How about requests for certain games that may be upcoming, a couple of times folks may have wanted to see a a game included and I missed it . . your thoughts on that please.

We're less than 4 weeks from the start of the 4th annual contest and I'm looking forward to it.

How can I make it better for all . . ?

I personally love the way you run the contest. The games you pick are always the most challenging, plus UNC games are impossible to pick for me because it's classic heart vs. head.

One comment I jokingly made last season or the season before is I called you BYU Billy because it always seemed like a BYU game sneaked into your list of 7 or 8 games for the week lol, but I know that was just coincidental.

I say keep doing it like you've been doing it. Don't feel pressured to pick a bunch of ACC games. Let's be real, unless it involves FSU, Clemson, UNC, or Louisville, ACC games kinda suck and no one wants to watch them, much less bet them.

Follow-up question for the board, if any of you are familiar with the "ACC Survivor" contest they do on the premium football board, I'd like to know if you'd like me to run an OOTB-only version.

I am not trying to go against Blue Heaven or any of the people that run that contest, but since the expansion to 14 teams, and the shortening of the season to 13 weeks from 14, I disagree with how they run the contest to offset this discrepancy. They make you hold on to a team and hope that team ends up in the ACCCG, which is beyond stupid. They should simply have a 2-for-1 week where you have to make two selections in any week before the end of the season.

Anyway, if y'all would like to do a survivor challenge, let me know. We could do it for multiple leagues, not just the ACC.

My apologies guys. I just went to Blue Heaven and re-read the rules and they obviously realized the way they ran it last year was stupid, so they've adopted the exact "pick two" week I've recommended in my above post. Either way, I'd still be down to run one just for us, for pride.

How does it work?
There are 14 ACC teams. There's 13 weeks in the regular season (i.e. before conference championship week).

You pick an ACC team to win their game in Week 1. So you pick Duke to beat NW SE Technical State in Week 1, for example. If your pick wins, you move on to the next week. Additionally, you pick a team once and only once, then you cannot pick them again. So if you pick Duke in Week 1, Duke is off the table, you can't pick them again.

In Week 2, you pick one of the remaining 13 ACC schools to win, and if your pick wins that week, you move on to Week 3, and on and on and on.

You have to look at the schedule and plan carefully because as the weeks go on and as you have already picked certain schools, if you don't plan ahead, you can end up stuck in a situation where you HAVE to pick Duke, Virginia, or Wake, and they may play Clemson, UNC, and Florida State, respectively, that week. So it's a fun challenge to plan out your picks week by week so that you use every team once and only once, and you lay it out in a manner in which you realistically think your picks will come true.

I hope I've explained that coherently. One thing to note, you must pick an ACC team to win each game. Even if it's a non-conference game, you can't pick Oregon to beat Virginia, for instance. You have to pick an ACC team to win each week.

I think having one more contest on this board would only add to the fun.

I'm in . .

One more question about that, am I missing something or is it possible to have multiple survivors at the end, or none?

Sorry for continuing the threadjack @BillyL.
Multiple survivors as in human players? Yes, it's possible to have multiple people make it all the way through the 13 weeks. It's also possible for no one to make it to the end. There's enough permutations with 14 schools and 13 weeks, that usually there never ends up with multiple winners.

I'm in for Billy's prediction contest, and would be in if THN runs a survivor pool. You guys know me and I can't turn down a friendly gambling opportunity.

I've been meaning to sign up for premium for awhile now, and that contest on blue heaven was going to be the final push over the edge. I'll still probably do it, but at least now if I decide to further kick the can down the road, I'd have a similar contest here to lose money on.

I'll run the Survivor pool. I don't know how those guys on premium run it with that many contestants (I'm not proficient enough in Excel to know how to do that). But it won't be bad with the ~15 of us doing it over here.

I'm in for both Billy's and THN yea boyeeeee

Glad to have you join in . .

All it takes is one upset to wipe out a crap ton of peeps.

I'm down. Let's play it for $10-20 a man.

Bump. Who else is in? Any interest in doing multiple conferences for the survivor pool? I'd be down to do an ACC one and an SEC one because, let's be honest, we all watch SEC games as much as we watch ACC games.

Given the fact that this is an automatic loss for me, I'm going to have to sit this one out so I can keep my money. :D

I would be down for some fantasy football though.

Ehh fantasy football is so 2000s. I'm over that shit. I didn't play it last year for the first time in years and it was so freeing. The NFL kinda bores me these days.

Of course I'm in @BillyL
I've got to try to make up for bombing like I did at the end of last year after jack rabbiting out to a big lead early on. I don't see a need to change anything. You run a great contest.

Son of a b**** . . . well I'm going for 2nd place since Hook is doing it again this year. I won three years ago and then he came in the year after and smoked the competition. Straight savage.

Thanks for the kind words, Bro' . . much appreciated, sir.

Geez man, he absolutely killed it last year, set the bar high from the get-go, at one point at mid-to-late season he was over 75% in his picks. freaking amazing . . !

Oh btw, year #2 winner was sctarheel and then he dropped off the map . .

RH did the bowls but not this one

Why do I get blamed for his alcohol abuse? Not my fault he can't handle his drink.
I blame you because a couple of last season's home games are somewhat of a blur. I must have been drunk off my ass because I seem to recall us beating the shit out of Miami at home.

I do have to insist on going to Four Corners before one of the home games this season, though. I need me some 'Julius Peppers plate' fried pickles / jalapenos / banana peppers.
I'm down with that. Sometimes you just don't feel like dealing with the mess of cooking at a tailgate. So is this a situation where you head to the game straight from 4Cs or do you return to the tailgate first?

Given our parking spot, I'd say probably it would make "more" sense to go straight from 4C to the game. However, my plan would probably be to do it on a day where the game is a night game. Going to 4C kinda provides a good way to not only kill 2+ hours and watch a bevy of other games inside away from the heat or cold, but also to limit your alcohol intake a bit so that you're not tanked or exhausted by game time.

Ideally, my plan for a 7:00 kick would be to hit up 4C about 2:45, watch the ending of the 12/12:30 games and a good chunk of the 3:30 games, then leave around 5....walk all the way back to the Bowles Lot, arrive by 5:30 and then have another 45 minutes or so to really enhance the buzz if needed to get nice for the game (more beers if the opponent poses a stressful matchup, of course).
