Hello Tar Heel fans . . I'm going to assist Mr. Steat with the scoring for at least a few games.

First of all, we are all scorekeepers in this contest.

I am going to post the scoring basics as a review of how this contest was scored in the past and will continue going forward as I have not seen this posted and we may have some newcomers.

You will receive 3 points for correctly predicting the game line, 3 points for correctly predicting the Over/Under line and you will receive an addition 3 bonus points for getting both right.

9 points for both if correct.
3 each for game and O/U line.

Please check your score totals and alert me to any mistake(s) you may see. I will gladly research the games and correct any errors for all 3 games.

We had 32 folks getting the prediction 100% correct this week . . Congrats to the 32.

I see you've called in for back-up help on the contest, haha. Kidding. It's not easy huh? Just wait until you're handling 3 ACC games each week - your pencil better be sharp! And please take my advice and the advice of several others, add .5 to each of your spreads and avoid the grumbling and headache that will surely ensue! GO HEELS

Another heads up. You're gonna have A LOT of folks who will be traveling or whatever on game days and unable to post their pick and will want to send it in early for you to keep track of. I started out like you, putting the lines up the day of the game - but then changed it bc of the constant requests for early picks. Maybe you've already addressed this issue but I can promise you that it's coming.

Bleed has some suggestions that we may have to consider, Lionel . . if, posting the lines a day earlier than game-day might help some folks out, then we may want to go that route. Everyone has to pick from the same lines, and it is a long season in front of us. When you feel comfortable with having those numbers, maybe you should go ahead and post them up . .

KenPom has us 85-68 over Hawaii . . he's been pretty close in predicting the scores of our first 3 games. As the season progresses I believe he'll be closer to the actual scores . .

If you could attain that goal, then it is exactly what you are seeking IMO.

That's what the bookmaker is after, the same amount of $ on both sides & collect the juice. Though we're not talking about money here, & there's 4 sides instead of 2.

There is definitely a homerism-factor that affects the picks. I almost always bumped the spread up several points, otherwise we would have 80% of the picks for UNC....which defeats the purpose.
