Thanks for taking this on Steat. You too Billy.

I haven't done anything to help as of yet. I do believe that Mr. Steat will run a great contest . . I like that he will wait until the morning of the game to post the lines.

It is no easy chore running a contest I can tell you . . and I will tip my hat to the man for devoting the time and energy it consumes to maintain this prediction game.

If anyone knows where I can find that hat, that info would be much appreciated.

I wonder if anyone has ever looked at how well people would have done in these contests over the years if they had ALWAYS bet on UNC/Over (or one of the other 3 combinations).

I know I tend to give the benefit to UNC and Over if it looks like a close call to me. In other words, if I'm having a hard time deciding, I pick my team and, since we are a uptempo team, I pick Over. But would that be more of a winning bet than Opponent/Under or some other combo if you always bet that way?

Bleed did a survey once and concluded that UNC/OVER was the pick the majority of the time. I'm going to mix it up a little bit this year by having more double point games. This will give a player an opportunity to jump up the leaderboard if he happen to miss picking a game or two. Most double point games will be blind picks. I'm hoping this will prevent the leaders from sitting on a lead. I will also use the exact spread of bookies on some games and adjust others to keep people guessing. Bottom line, do your research! :)

I just can't pick another team no matter how much sense it makes. That's why I only win NCAA pools if the Tar Heels get to the FF! Over/Under is my only choice, lol!

I'm assuming the line should be UNC -22, as in UNC is favored by 22 points?

If that's the case I'm taking Tulane and under.
Just listing it a different way as it has been done in the past. You are correct, UNC should beat Tulane by at least 22 points.

UNC - Over

Last year, Tulane didn't shoot very well, So it's hard to see how they score enough to provide their share of the points to reach 150. But I'm counting on my Heels to score enough that Tulane's scoring doesn't really matter. I mean, surely Tulane can score 50 points. We'll do the rest.

The fly in the ointment is that their new head coach - a former 17-year NBA head coach - may actually be a game-changer for them. Not that they have any chance of beating us, but they could, for example, play a slow-down game.

The biggest fly in the ointment may be that last year Marcus, Brice, Theo and Joel James combined for 55 points against Tulane. That's a lot of points to make up. I look forward to seeing if our guys are able to replace that scoring. Berry, Justin and Isaiah all had good games, too. So OTHER people will need to step up - a lot.

First game of the season and there is no doubt Coach Williams will play almost everyone and look for a bunch of different combinations and see how they mesh together. Saying that I see a Carolina win but for betting purposes I like Tulane and under.
