Virginia wing Malcolm Brogdon is averaging 18.2 points per game shooting 47.5 percent from the field, including 40.8 percent from 3-point range. He’s also averaging 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1 steal, and has turned over the ball just 41 times this season. Brogdon may also enter Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels as the slight front-runner for ACC Player of the Year.

What makes his so effective?

“Shooting percentage, he takes the shots he likes and he makes," Williams said. "The effectiveness of an offensive player is do you not turn it over and do you shoot a high percentage? And I think he does both of those and is fantastic.

“In ACC play, he’s shooting 47.5 overall, (but) he’s shooting 51 percent in the league. He’s effective because he’s dadgum good. He takes shots he can make, doesn’t take bad shots, doesn’t take rushed shots, he keeps running around those screens, curls sometimes flares sometimes. He’s effective because of his numbers – he has those numbers because he’s really a dadgum good player.”
