Props to Big Joel

After this basketball season I want Fedora to approach Joel about trying football as a 5th year Sr. Either as a DE or bulk him up some and make him an offensive tackle. Obviously if Fedora and Joel are both interested.

Thanks big guy!

He works really hard and hustles his butt off. I appreciate his effort and leadership.

Some NBA scout are noticing too. Particularly noting he has decent hands and pretty good footwork. Add to the fact he actually has a decent turnaround j from 6-7 ft out. As one of them said, he could actually make an NBA roster right now. At the very least, he will have plenty of opportunity overseas.

Big Joel gets an A+ for effort every time he steps on the court. Wish him the best in his endeavors after the season, wherever they may be

Don't take the football suggestion as a criticism. God only makes a small % of people his size and fluid moving at the same time. And I could see an NBA team taking a later 2nd round flier on him for sure. It's he is just so physical on the court because he plays so hard , combined with his size I see a lot of potential. To the point where I could see him playing on Sundays for a decade rather than getting kicked around the D-League or another country playing basketball. It's a testament to his raw natural athletic abilities.

Joel should do mop up minutes...........PERIOD. He actually gets in the way of the other players. He seems to have a problem RAISING his arms...........LITERALLY. Roy would do better going small (Maye) off the bench when Hicks is unavailable.

Respectfully disagree. Joel didn't hurt the Heels v Davidson and his size will be needed sometime this season.

Every year Roy cops flack for playing deep into his bench during the non-conference games and most years it pays off with the bench delivering when called upon in a crucial game.

Last year was an exception because Des Hubert injured his knee, but I am one fan who would have liked to see his long arms and 5 fouls put to use against Wisconsin when Brice and Kennedy struggled.

then explain how K can win a Natty with 7 players, explain how Ky can win with freshmen. Roy hurts players like Hicks by giving minutes to Joel.

Wow, the tone got hot a little quickly there!
K is different to Roy. Different styles and different players. I'm happy to discuss, but it's probably fodder for a different thread.
As for James getting Isaiah's minutes, that doesn't make sense. James is played as a big, wide bodied center, hicks is a nimble #4. If anything, Brice is taking Isaiah's minutes, and with good reason.

Hicks does not help his own situation by picking up fouls at the rate he does. Love to see Hicks play larger minutes, think Roy would as well but Hicks can't flirt would foul trouble in the first half and Roy not have to turn to Joel or Luke. Joel is going to give you some good production every now & then, 7 rebounds was big vs Davidson. I absolutely want Hicks in for as long a set of minutes as we can get him but the key is when he picks up his second foul.
