Question about our defense

Our guys made some great and timely defensive plays last night.
We had guys diving on the floor and our defensive intensity was
good at times. However, it bugs me when I see our big men
go out to help on a three point shooter that is coming off of
a screen and then see an easy pass/drive into the paint for
easy points. It seems like our bigs can't get back or there is
no help from teammates. I was hoping that we would go
to a point zone or somehow change up our defense just
to give them another look. Trimble would come off of a
screen and have an open 3 or an easy pass to a big man.
Solutions??

Biggest weakness that was very apparent last night. I would also question the weak side help I those instances. That help would at least create an outside shot instead of a layup.

Good news is that it is something that they can focus on. I am sure they will be seeing it until they prove they can handle it.

Bigs need to either hedge hard and re-route the dribbler, or show and hold ground below and allow our Guard to get thru the screen. Anything in between puts everyone in no-man's land --- guys like Melo, or Miami's PG a few yrs back, will just play bumper-pool with the defense.
Personally I'd like to see more jump doubles before and off screens.

I was really pleased with how Marcus was on defense. If any aspect of his game was gonna be rusty, I was expecting his on the ball defense would be maybe a step behind, but I saw him move his feet and slow down numerous dribble penetrations. That was really good to see

We rotate over a tad to slow just about every time. EVERYBODY has to do it or you get burned. Our bigs are scared to death to hedge guys, and rightly so, we called for a lot of ticky tack crap.
