Watching UVa play at Pitt and I notice that UVa is wearing white, Pitt is in black.

I always thought it was a rule that the home team wear white, but obviously not. So what IS the rule? Is it home team's choice? Or did UVa forget to pack their road uniforms or something?

I'd sort of like it if we always wore Carolina Blue.

Per this link it looks like home team wears light, away wears dark unless both teams mutually agree to switch. I believe in the NFL it is home teams choice, regardless of if the away team is down with it (i.e. The Cowboys wearing white all the time)

While searching I also saw this. Didn't realize it, but college players can't wear 6,7,8, or 9 due to hand signaling fouls. That seems like something that should be done away with.

Thanks.

In this age of smart watches, you'd think they could just tap in the number of the player and wouldn't need to worry about how many fingers a ref has.

I knew about this number restriction, but someone said that there is no such restriction in the NBA. If that is true, how do the NBA refs communicate player number on fouls? Do they - gasp - use 2 hands or something? Judging from some of the reffing I've seen this season, it might just be that they aren't up to such an intellectual challenge. ;)

I knew that about the numbers and in the NBA it used to be the same but sometime in the last 15 years it changed
