*This is the 4th time two No. 1 seeds have opened the tournament at the same site, as Virginia and Carolina are here. The others: 2005 (Charlotte, UNC and Duke); 2006 (Phlly, UConn and Villanova); and 2009 (Dayton, Louisville and Pittsburgh).

*4 schools have advanced 9 times to the Final Four after playing NCAA Tournament games in Raleigh: UNC (1968, 1977, 1982, 2008); Duke (1964, 1966, 2004); N.C. State (1974); and Villanova (1971).

*The state of North Carolina has hosted more NCAA Tournament games than any other state. This 6 games this weekend at PNC Arena will bring the total instate to 251 games (beginning in 1951). Next: Ohio 186 games; Missouri 184; California 183; and Texas 179.

*ACC teams own a 20-6 record in NCAA Tournament games played in Raleigh (consolation games no included and it only accounts teams who had league membership whn the games took place): UNC 7-1; Duke 6-2; N.C. State 3-1; Wake Forest 2-1; Virginia 2-0; South Carolina 0-1 (1971 season).

*UNC is making its 6th NCAA Tournament appearance in Raleigh, the most by any team. Duke and Villanova have participated in NCAA Tournament games in Raleigh 5 different times each while Davidson and St. John's have been here 4 times each.

*UNC is 15-4 all-time at PNC Arena with a 13-2 record under Roy Williams, which includes a 2-0 mark in NCAA Tournament play. Virginia is 8-7 at PNA Arena, incluidng a 2-0 mark in NCAA Tournament play Florida Gulf Coast and Providence have played at PNC Arena once each.
