Just some random thoughts -
- You see all the time folks talking about Smith and Duke...or Smith and UK. Folks, some things are obvious. Smith is not going to Duke. He also is not going to UK with Simmons in line unless something strange happens. So then you wonder, Why is he considering NC State?...simple...because of Bam and NOA at UNC. However, I am not convinced that Smith is so determined to stay around home or would even come to UNC if things were normal. I personally think he sees folks in place at NC State & UNC. Smith wants to play NOW. Roy has to sell the 2 PG guard thing again to get Smith. I would not be surprised is someone comes in late and steals Smith from all the blue bloods. Look for the PT NOW school with him. He is convinced he is OAD.
- Giles in my opinion was never coming to UNC. Just my opinion. The fascination simply was not there & the excitement was not there. Watch Roy and the staff, they will reveal with their actions how they feel they stand with Giles. I really feel like Giles knows where he wants to go already, he just likes the attention and will wait for the excitement to build - he will wait as long as he can and commit when the excitement reaches a crescendo. He is business - he is money, he is NBA contract stopping by college for a quick pick-up game.
- 2016 class will have more surprise players than any class in the last 20 years. What I mean by that is, in 5 years look back at where these guys were rated, you will be shocked at the multiple guys who were rated outside the top 30 who will be NBA starters. I also feel like there are a few in the top 15 who will disappear. 2016 is a very hard class to rate - because it is incredibly deep & most analyst have not faced this kind of deep. UNC fans need to hope Roy finds that diamond in the rough guy.
- UNC's 2016 recruiting struggles will pay off with a huge recruiting class in 2017... PT and the disappearance of the NCAA will lead to our first major nationally recognized OAD.
- Tatum will not be as good as the expectations - Mark that one down & take it to Vegas. Much like a Harrison Barnes let-down, but worse. Not saying he will not be good, I'm saying the expectations will be more than the results.
- Wake Forest will begin a rise in the ACC in 2017 - they will be a regular tourney team soon.
- Roy's Replacement??? Maryland is a new big ten power in BB - Simply because of Turgeon. He can recruit & I mean recruit with the best of them. Could his previous relationship with Roy and the major success at Maryland coming land him in 2022 as the new UNC head coach?
- Finally, UNC will be a final four team in 2016. If that happens, prepare yourself for the talk during the final four weekend. It will center around Roy's struggles over the last 3 years and the clearance of any wrong doing. It will be "Roy's redemption" weekend. A major motivator for the team.
- Oh - one more thing. In 2016, Andrew lands a major gig as the new BB analyst at ESPN, replacing Kantz....
