#1: Caddyshack
#2: National Lampoon's Vacation
#3: Three Amigos
#4: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
#5: National Lampoon's European Vacation

Have seen parts of the other three, but never beginning to end so I'll abstain from ranking them.

ETA: I like how Vegas Vacation just got ignored

5 star thread! 8 choices is about the right amount for a Rank 'em. Solid choice of content for your Rank 'em as well. I wish you would have made a statement as to how to rank them just so we're clear. How do I know you want "best to worst"? But overall, it's still a 5 star.

1 - Caddyshack
2 - Vacation
3 - Fletch
4 - Christmas Vacation
5 - Spies Like Us
6 - Euro Vacation
7 - Funny Farm
8 - Three Amigos

You left a few off. Everybody always talks about how Chevy only did a handful of good movies. But I think people overlook some hidden gems. Seems Like Old Times is pretty decent and Deal of The Century doesn't suck. But there are two Chevy movies that are way, way, way underrated - Modern Problems and Under The Rainbow. Both are really, really funny movies.

I will say while I gave Caddyshack the top spot, Chevy is the 4th funniest person in that movie in my book.

If the Community "and a movie" ever happens, that will probably automatically leap to #2 for me, provided they find a way to include Chevy's character

I agree. I might go 3rd behind behind Murray and Ted Knight. Not sure Rodney beats him out. But for the purposes of ranking the movies, I think it's irrelevant. He didn't ask us to rank Chevy's performances in the movies; just rank the movies. But as I indicated in my first poast in this thread, he could have been a little more descriptive in his instructions.

No that's fair, which is why I gave it the top spot, just was pointing that out as a side note. Its an incredibly strong ensemble, no question

1- Fletch. This is my most quoted movie.
2- Vacation. The older I get, the funnier it gets
3- Christmas Vacation. My second most quoted movie.
4- Caddyshack was an all time great movie, but as others have said, it's not a Chevy Chase movie as most of the others are.
5- Funny Farm. Great supporting cast.
6- Spies Like Us. As strong as a number 6 as you will ever see in a Rank email thread
7- Euro Vacation. Just a bit over the top
8- Three Amigos. Disappointing.

Fletch at #1 is of course the correct answer. What makes it Chevy's best movie is that he's the only one delivering the jokes, just riffing his way through the whole movie, and the quotability ratio is off the charts. Add in the fact that there's actually a decent plot going on behind the humor and you've got a cult classic.

#2 Vacation
#3 Caddyshack
#4 Christmas Vacation
#5 Spies Like Us
#6 European Vacation
#7 Funny Farm
#8 Three Amigos
