A) If you were ranking them right now, where would you put them?

B) If you were ranking them with Berry and Theo back, and reasonable development from our other guys, where do you see us come ACC tournament time?

Right now (before today's rankings come out) we are listed at

#5 (USA Today)
#6 (Pomeroy)
#7 (AP)

After 2 weak showings at home against teams that probably won't play in the NCAA tournament, I'd say that right now (with the injuries we have and the way we're playing) we are barely top 20, and that could be generous. And yet, the question always is what teams you would put above us. And that's a lot harder to say.

So, right now, with current personnel playing as they are currently playing, I've got us at #14.

In March the question is very different. Berry and Theo are presumably starting and 100%. Guys like Kenny, Tony, Seventh and Brandon have gotten good development and are solid subs or role players. So we are much better. But what about the competition? Teams with a lot of young talent may have improved as much or more. That includes the obvious teams like Duke, Kentucky and Arizona, as well as less obvious teams like NC State.

I have us around #5 going into post season play.

So, my answers are:

A) #14
B) #5

What's your take?

I think on the back side of the top 5 is a fair ranking with everyone healthy. Only team in the ACC that I see as maybe higher would be Duke, but the margin is razor thin.

If healthy come springtime, legit top 5.

Without Mr. Berry, top 25. Not the same team when he's on the bench, though hopefully Nate, Seventh and Stilman can continue to improve in facilitating the offense.

Need to balance that with the Kenpom numbers on the season prior to the last two games. Otherwise, two games with incomplete personnel makes it almost as strange as it was to watch!

1) 53rd If Luke maye keeps getting the run he is and Kennedy fades like every other year, and Britt running point.-without berry and pin

2) top 5-8 if the rotations are shortened-this isn't a unc team with talent stockpiled on the bench like some of our juggernauts. --with berry and a healthy pin

I would have to disagree with OP because I believe Davidson has a legitimate chance of making tourney...

I don't really pay too much attention to rankings until you play about 15-20 games to get more of a sample so at this point I'm ok with where we are at.

If we were healthy I would say top 5, without just Theo still top 5, without both top 25 and without just Berry top 20.

Predictions/Assessments

1. We are one of the best 3 teams in the country with a healthy Joel Berry

2. We are in the 15-25 range without Berry, regardless of whether Pinson is healthy or not.

3. Butterbutt will eventually grow tired of sharing his disdain for Luke Maye with us.

Im sure we can find you a safe space to crawl into and some coloring books if youd prefer not hear my thoughts on our student athletes. Or, conversely, there is the ignore button. Your choice.

Coloring books, good one!
Was just a prediction, no need to get defensive or for personal jabs.

Interesting. The personal attacks and so forth from the ones who cry wolf. Keep em coming ladies, The hypocrisy on display is transparent and exquisitely enjoyable for a soul such as myself.

Still don't know about Joel's availability for UK. We need him to have a realistc chance at UK but his health is the primary concern. If he's not 100%, and I mean 100%, I hope he sits. A win against UK would look good on our resumé but it's not worth reinjuring his ankle by bringing him back too soon. Roy traditionally is very cautious when it comes to injuries. I don't imagine we'll know until right before the game.
