Rank your top 5 shooting guards to ever play for UNC.

It depends on if you take NBA career into account or if you're just talking about their accomplishments at UNC. But either way, there are a few that without a doubt make the list. The order would be determined by the above mentioned factor. Also, how much weight does a national championship hold for you?

First group:
MJ
Charlie Scott
Bob Lewis
Al Wood - SF?
Larry Miller - SF?
Joe Forte

Next group:
Shammond Williams
Rashad McCants
Wayne Ellington
Vince Carter - SF?

I don't really consider either Lewis or Miller to be a shooting guard, but boy were they fun to watch. The L&M boys.

Everybody knows about Miller but in some ways Lewis was more fun to watch. He used to take off around the foul line and float toward the basket. If fouled, he'd shoot. If not, he'd dish to Miller on the baseline and Miller would drive. If Miller couldn't complete the drive, he'd dish back to Lewis. Rinse and repeat. It was glorious.

I remember one game against Vanderbilt (then a good team, iirc) where it seemed Lewis spent half the game sprawled on the floor after being fouled. But he just kept doing it and kept making them pay from the foul line.

That was back in the day when freshmen couldn't play on the varsity team. And the freshman teams were great. Larry Brown coached them. I think Lewis set the frosh team record with 50 straight foul shots.

That was the era of great duos in the ACC. We had the L&M boys, Wake had the L&L boys (Long and Leonard, or something like that), Duke had the M&M boys (Mullins and Marin).
