Ranking UNC Football Teams That Finished In The Top 10

Nothing was keeping him here.
AS much as I know that Baddour failed UNC football BIG TIME, I think your statement is correct. By then, Mack knew that he was not going to ever win the ACC unless he could out recruit FSU, and that that simply was not possible, certainly while Bowden was there. So when a school that had as much ease as FSU at loading up of talented recruits offered, he was gone.

Mack is not a good "game" coach (Crum was) and Mack always seems to choke in big games.
You can't fault him for going to a blueblood program. It was a career step-up for him.
His coaching didn't improve a Texas, he won a lot of games, but.............

Yet Texas was mediocre for the 18 years before Mack and hasn't even been that since Mack. But it was an A+ program under him. Yet, some UNC fans are still comfortable making these claims.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong. Even during his first go around here, that was always something that was said. It wasn't specific to his time at Texas. He was always known as the guy who could beat you with talent. It's a fair criticism given his record. That doesn't mean he's a bad coach, just not great at that aspect.

Perhaps, though that tag sticks with a lot of coaches that can recruit really well. In football, however, talent only gets you so far. It can carry a team much more in basketball, as an example. But exceptionally talented football teams won't have much success if they don't prepare well, don't scheme well, and don't execute as units well.
