Just watched the condensed version, which I like to do to pick up on things I missed from my seat. Some things I'm noticing with my untrained football eye:

  • 68 on offense may have reverted back to his 2019 form. I.E. he's looking not good at all. Whiffed his man completely multiple times in the second half. After one such play in the 3rd quarter, Tucker got in his face to try to fire him up and get his butt in gear.
  • Our OL looks slow and unathletic. On that screen pass to Chandler in 3Q where he picks up the first down, none of our OL hit a defender. GA State defenders easily knifed through and got to Chandler. Ty showed good strength and elusiveness on that play. He seems to feel more comfortable in space than on a traditional handoff.
  • And we knew that was Ty's strength (breaking big plays in the pass game), so why are we not using that more? We need to work him into the pass game more on screens and routes in the flat or wheel routes IMO
  • Sam looks faster than in years past. Despite the inherent injury risk, we need to use him in the running game. Him keeping it off the read, as well as scrambles and called runs will hopefully open up the traditional run game and open up the glance route off the RPO as defenders have to creep up.
  • Echols, Rucker, Downs are all studs. Obvious statement is obvious.
  • Time management still a major red flag for this coaching staff. Need someone different than Sparky Woods. End of half and end of game time management continues to be terrible and this ain't rocket science stuff. End of 1H, we wasted 20 seconds before calling a timeout, which ultimately left us with not enough time remaining once we got the ball back. Major head scratcher happens seemingly every week.
  • Morales coming out of nowhere is a nice surprise!

Feel free to add other thoughts here or tell me I'm an idiot on any of mine.
